Lynn Seaton
Lynn Seaton (born July 18, 1957 in Tulsa, Oklahoma) is a jazz bassist associated with bebop and swing. He has appeared on over 125 albums, including ''Nirvana'' by Bucky Pizzarelli, and the Grammy Award winning '' Diane Schuur & the Count Basie Orchestra''. He has also recorded as a leader on releases such as ''Bassman's Basement'' and ''Zoom Blewz''. He began with classical guitar, but switched to bass at age 9. He began his professional career after moving to Ohio with the Steve Schmidt Trio, and later he did a two-year world tour with the Count Basie Orchestra. He has performed and recorded with other notable musicians such as Woody Herman, Jeff Hamilton, and George Shearing. He currently teaches at the University of North Texas. Steve Wiest ''(né'' John Stephen Wiest; born 1957) is an American trombonist, composer, arranger, big band director, music educator at the collegiate level, jazz clinician, author, and illustrator/cartoonist. From 1981 to 1985, he was a featured trombonist and arranger with the Maynard Ferguson Band. Wiest is in his year as Associate Professor of Jazz Studies and Commercial Music at the University of Denver Lamont School of Music. He is the Coordinator of the 21st Century Music Initiative at the school. Wiest has been a professor for of the years that he has been a professional trombonist, composer, and arranger. Butch Miles
Butch Miles (born Charles J. Thorton, Jr. on July 4, 1944) is an American jazz drummer. He has played with the Count Basie Orchestra, Dave Brubeck, Ella Fitzgerald, Sammy Davis Jr., Frank Sinatra, Lena Horne and Tony Bennett Career Miles, who cites Buddy Rich, Gene Krupa, and Jo Jones as favorite drummers, began playing snare drum at the age of nine and majored in music at West Virginia State University (1962–1966). After receiving his degree, he went on tour with the Iris Bell Trio. Frank Wess
Frank Wellington Wess (January 4, 1922 – October 30, 2013) was an American jazz saxophonist and flutist. In addition to his extensive solo work, Wess is remembered for his time in Count Basie's band from the early 1950s into the 1960s. Critic Scott Yanow described him as one of the premier proteges of Lester Young, and a leading jazz flutist of his era—using the latter instrument to bring new colors to Basie's music.
