Lyndsay Wheelans
Lyndsay Wheelans is a former Canadian national level ringette athlete and coach who was born in Calgary, Alberta, and raised in Edmonton. She played successfully for the Canadian national ringette team and coached both Team Canada and Team Finland in the World Ringette Championships (WRC). She was Head Coach of Team Canada from 2006 - 2011 (5 years). For over 25 years, Wheelans has been playing ringette and coaching at both national and international levels, starting in 1988. Wheelans has been inducted into the Ringette Canada Hall of Fame (RCHoF) three times: twice as a member of separate Canadian world title winning teams, and once as a coach. Ringette
Ringette is a contact sport, non-contact winter team sport played on ice hockey rinks using Ice skates#Ice hockey skates, ice hockey skates, straight sticks with drag-tips, and a #Equipment, blue, rubber, pneumatic ring designed for use on ice surfaces. The sport is among a small number of organized team sports created exclusively for female competitors. Though ice hockey rinks are used, #Ringette rink, ringette rinks use markings specific to ringette and the sport uses strategic play which more closely resembles basketball than ice hockey. The sport was created in Canada for girls in 1963 by Sam Jacks from West Ferris, Ontario and Red McCarthy from Espanola, Ontario. In 2018, over 50,000 players registered to play the sport. Erin Cumpstone
Erin Cumpstone (born November 4, 1980) is a Canadian softball catcher, former ringette player, and currently a National Ringette League coach for the National Ringette League#Saskatchewan Heat, Saskatchewan Heat. She began playing softball at age seven and studied at Simon Fraser University. Sports Softball Cumpstone was a part of the Canadian softball team who finished 9th at the 2002 World Softball Championships in Saskatoon and part of the Canadian softball team who finished 5th at the 2004 Summer Olympics. Ringette Cumpstone was also a ringette player and a member of 2010 World Ringette Championships#Team Canada, Team Canada 2010 during the 2010 World Ringette Championships where the team finished in second place to Finland. Stéphanie Séguin (born June 23, 1981, in Saint-Laurent, Quebec), is an elite level Canadian ringette player who competes as a forward. Séguin currently plays for the Montreal Mission in the National Ringette League (NRL). She has been a member of Canada national ringette team, Canada's national ringette team as a player and coach. In 2023, Séguin is an assistant ringette coach for 2023 World Ringette Championships#Team Canada Junior, Team Canada Junior (U21) competing in the 2023 World Ringette Championships. Career Séquin began playing ringette at the age of 4 after watching her mother play ice hockey. She has been playing with the Montreal Mission in the National Ringette League, the highest level in ringette in Canada, since 2004.
