Lyn Spencer
Lyn Spencer (born 24 October 1951) is a former British broadcaster, best known for her work at Tyne Tees Television. Education Born in Newcastle upon Tyne, she attended the Newcastle College of Further Education and the Canley College of Education in Coventry. Career During the early 1970s, Spencer was a youth worker at the Camden Youth Project in North London and an English & drama teacher at Heworth Grange Comprehensive School in Felling, Gateshead. Then in 1975, at the age of 23, Spencer joined the presentation department at Tyne Tees and became popular with viewers as the duty announcer on Saturday mornings, when on-air links often featured competitions, interviews and birthday greetings. A year later, the continuity links were relaunched into a new Saturday morning children's programme entitled ''Lyn's Look In'', for which Spencer was the presenter, researcher and producer. ''Top of the Pops'' (''TOTP'') is a British Record chart, music chart television programme, made by the BBC and originally broadcast weekly between 1January 1964 and 30 July 2006. The programme was the world's longest-running weekly music show. For most of its history, it was broadcast on Thursday evenings on BBC One. Each show consisted of performances of some of the week's best-selling popular music records, usually excluding any tracks moving down the chart, including a rundown of that week's singles chart. This was originally the Top 20, though this varied throughout the show's history. The Top 30 was used from 1969, and the Top 40 from 1984. Paddy MacDee
Paddy MacDee is a former television presenter, newsreader, radio presenter and compere from North East England. He is best known for his work on ITV Tyne Tees, BBC Look North (North East and Cumbria) and BBC Radio Newcastle. Life and career MacDee started out working in a law firm as an articled clark, while having his own mobile disco on the side. In the end, he decided to stop working in law and focus on his popular discos. This then led Paddy to working in radio. Great North Radio, or G.N.R as it was sometimes called, launched in March 1989 using the AM frequencies of Metro Radio and Radio Teesbr> This happened after the Metro Radio group decided to split the FM and AM frequencies. The station was broadcast on both frequencies rather than as two separate stations. GNR's output consisted of mellow music from the 1950s through to the 1980s, including current hits that fitted the format. Alistair Pirrie ( - 27 January 2017) was a British television and radio presenter, producer and director, well known in the North East England for radio and local TV work, primarily on Radio Tees. He attended Grangefield School, Stockton on Tees. His first break into the music scene came as a young journalist for the New Musical Express (NME) in the early 70s, including a seminal interview with Leonard Cohen in March 1973 at a point when Cohen was debating leaving the industry. However, he is best known nationally in the UK for presenting the ITV Tyne Tees children's television pop music programme '' Razzmatazz'' between 1981 and 1987. John Lydon
John Joseph Lydon (; born 31 January 1956), also known by his former stage name Johnny Rotten, is an English singer and songwriter. He was the lead singer of the late-1970s punk band the Sex Pistols, which lasted from 1975 until 1978, and again for various revivals during the 1990s and 2000s. He is also the lead singer of post-punk band Public Image Ltd (PiL), which he founded and fronted from 1978 until 1993, and again since 2009. Public Image Ltd (abbreviated and stylized as PiL) are an English post-punk band (and incorporated limited company) formed by singer John Lydon (previously known as the singer of Sex Pistols), guitarist Keith Levene, bassist Jah Wobble, and drummer Jim Walker in May 1978. The group's personnel has changed frequently over the years; Lydon has been the sole constant member.
