Lyle Martin
Lyle Martin (born March 25, 1985) is an American soccer player. Career College and amateur Martin made his debut in the football field in 2004, and played college soccer at California State University, Bakersfield, appearing in 79 career games and scoring 29 goals. In his senior year, he earned the 2006 California Collegiate Athletic Association goal-scoring title with 17 goals in 19 matches, which paved the way for him to become the second most single-season goals in school history. During his college years he also played for Bakersfield Brigade of the USL Premier Development League, scoring five goals in 10 games in his rookie season in 2005, and playing in 16 matches and scoring nine goals in 2006. Professional Martin was drafted by Chivas USA in the 2007 MLS Supplemental Draft, but signed instead with the Vancouver Whitecaps of the USL First Division. Bakersfield is a city in Kern County, California, United States. It is the county seat and largest city of Kern County. Wesley Charles (born 12 December 1975) is a Vincentian footballer. He was born in Brighton. Career Europe Charles spent the beginning of the 2000s traveling Europe. His travels started in Ireland, where he first joined Bray Wanderers in November 2000 after spending two seasons with Sligo Rovers, where he was voted Player of the Year in 2003. In July 2005, Charles signed for Russian Premier League club Rostov on loan for the remainder of their season, with an option to make the move permanent on a two-year contract at the end of it. The 2008 Season is the 22nd edition of the United Soccer Leagues season. The season kicked off on Friday, April 12 with two First Division games, as the Charleston Battery visited Miami FC and the Montreal Impact visited the Vancouver Whitecaps. General * Changes in the First Division: the California Victory take the 2008 season off, leaving 11 teams playing a 30-game schedule. * Changes in the Second Division: the Pittsburgh Riverhounds return from hiatus, and Real Maryland FC join as an expansion team. However, the Cincinnati Kings and New Hampshire Phantoms drop to the PDL. 10 teams play a 20-game schedule this season. * In the PDL, 5 teams withdrew for the 2008 season, while 7 expansion teams and the two voluntary relegations increase the league to 67 teams in 10 divisions across 4 conferences. North American Soccer League (2011–2017)
The North American Soccer League (NASL) was a professional men's soccer league based in the United States. The league was named for, but had no connection to, the original North American Soccer League. The later NASL was founded in 2009, and began play in 2011 with eight teams. From 2013 through 2017, the NASL used a split-season schedule running from April to early November, with a four-week break in July. The spring and fall champions, along with the two teams with best combined spring/fall records met in a four-team single-elimination tournament known as ''The Championship''. The winner of the final claimed the Soccer Bowl trophy. Wuhan Yangtze River Football Club, formerly Wuhan Zall Football Club (), is a professional Chinese football club that currently participates in the Chinese Super League under licence from the Chinese Football Association (CFA). The team is based in Wuhan, Hubei and their home stadium is the Dongxihu Sports Centre that has a seating capacity of 30,000. Their current majority shareholder is the investment company Wuhan Zall Development Holding Co. Ltd. The Chinese Football Association China League (), also known as China League One or Chinese Jia League (中甲联赛), is the second level of professional football in China. Above League One is the Chinese Super League. Prior to the formation of the Chinese Super League, Jia League was known as ''Jia B League''. The then top two levels of Chinese football league were known as ''Jia A League'' and ''Jia B League'' respectively.
