The Lviv Oblast Council or Lviv Regional Council ( uk, Львівська обласна рада) is the regional council (parliament) of the Lviv Oblast (region) located in western Ukraine. Legislative framework The Regional Council is a local self-government body representing the common interests of territorial communities of villages, towns and cities within the powers defined by the Constitution of Ukraine and Ukrainian Law ''On Local Self-Government in Ukraine''. Composition and work procedure The Lviv Regional Council consists of 84 members who are elected by Lviv Region residents on the basis of universal, equal and direct suffrage. Council members are elected for a five year term. In order to gain representation in the Council, a party must gain more than 5 percent of the total vote. Government House, Lviv
House of the Halychyna Governorate or Government House (today - building of the Lviv Regional Council and Lviv Regional State Administration) is an architectural monument of national significance in Lviv (Ukraine). The building is an example of the Neo-Renaissance style of the Austrian-Hungarian Empire from which the Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria was ruled. It was erected in the 1870s to a design by architects Sylwester Hawryszkiewicz and Feliks Księżarski. Location The building is located beyond the eastern border of the medieval city and occupies a corner area, with its facade facing Vynnychenka Street on the west, and Prosvita Street - on the north. The Governor's Palace adjoins the building on the southern side. On the northern side, behind Prosvita Street, there is the Barefoot Carmelite Church. 2015 Ukrainian Local Elections
On 25 October 2015 local elections took place in Ukraine. The elections were conducted a little over a year since the 2014 2014 Ukrainian local elections, snap local elections, which were only held throughout parts of the country. A second round of voting for the election of mayors in cities with more than 90,000 residents where no candidate gained more than 50% of the votes were held on 15 November 2015.
