''Luz'' – () (pronounced ) is a 2020 American LGBT romantic drama film written and directed by Jon Garcia (director), Jon Garcia, who also served as a producer. It stars Ernesto Reyes (actor), Ernesto Reyes, Jesse Tayeh, Jimmy Garcia, Alma Gloria Garcia and Lowell Deo. The film had its premiere at Miami's OUTshine LGBTQ+ Film Festival on August 24, 2020. It was then screened at Reeling: The Chicago LGBTQ+ International Film Festival, Out on Film, FilmOut San Diego LGBT Film Festival and Seattle Queer Film Festival. The movie had a limited theatrical release on March 19, 2021 and was then released to DVD and streaming services on April 6, 2021. Synopsis Ruben has a job driving for his Mafiosa cousin. When he gets into a car accident while driving one of his cousin's "girls", killing her, he is sentenced to prison. Jon Erich Garcia (born July 18, 1979) is an American director, documentary filmmaker, screenwriter and musician based in Portland, Oregon. He has released two full length albums and produced ten feature films including ''The Falls trilogy'', '' Sex Weather'' and ''Love in Dangerous Times''. Garcia was nominated at the Emmy Awards in 2016, for his works for Oregon Public Broadcasting. Biography Early life and education Garcia was born to Alma Gloria and Domingo Serio Garcia, Jr., in 1979, in Corpus Christi, Texas. His mother was a school teacher and his father was a Vietnam veteran. He attended Gregory-Portland High School and graduated in 1998.
