Luys Alliance
The Bright Alliance ( hy, «Լույս» դաշինք, ԼՈՒՅՍ; ''LUYS Dashink, LUYS'') was a liberal political alliance of two political parties in Armenia: the Bright Armenia party and Republic party. It was formed on 28 August 2018, before the 2018 Yerevan City Council election. Its leaders were Edmon Marukyan (leader of Bright Armenia) and Aram Sargsyan (leader of the Republic party and former Prime Minister between 1999-2000). Composition Ideology Both parties are considerably pro-European and have called for closer relations and integration between Armenia and the European Union. History On 23 September 2018, the alliance participated in the 2018 Yerevan City Council election with the Minister of Justice, Artak Zeynalyan, nominated as a candidate for Mayor. Edmon Marukyan
Edmon Hrachiki Marukyan ( hy, Էդմոն Հրաչիկի Մարուքյան) is an Armenian lawyer and politician currently serving as ambassador-at-large of Armenia. He was a member of the National Assembly of Armenia from 2012 to 2021. He was elected to parliament for the first time as an independent in May 2012. He founded the Bright Armenia Party in 2015 and has served as its chairman since. He was reelected to the National Assembly in April 2017, leading the electoral list of the Way Out Alliance, an electoral alliance between Bright Armenia, Civil Contract and the Hanrapetutyun Party. He was elected to parliament again in the 2018 parliamentary elections, leading Bright Armenia's electoral list. Marukyan left parliament after Bright Armenia failed to pass the electoral threshold in the 2021 snap elections. He was appointed ambassador-at-large by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in March 2022. 2018 Armenian Parliamentary Election
Snap parliamentary elections were held in Armenia on 9 December 2018, as none of the parties in the National Assembly were able to put forward and then elect a candidate for Prime Minister in the two-week period following the resignation of incumbent Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on 16 October. They were the first elections after the 2018 revolution and the country's first-ever snap elections. The result was a landslide victory for Pashinyan's My Step Alliance, which received 70% of the vote and won 88 of the 132 seats in the National Assembly. Electoral system The 101 members of the National Assembly are elected by party-list proportional representation. Seats are allocated using the d'Hondt method with an election threshold of 5% for parties and 7% for multi-party alliances.

Yerevan City Council
The Yerevan City Council () is the lawmaking body of the city of Yerevan, the capital and largest city of Armenia. It has 65 members elected by Party-list proportional representation system, headed by the Mayor of Yerevan. The Council serves as a check against the mayor in a mayor-council government model. The council monitors performance of city agencies and makes land use decisions, as well as, legislating on a variety of other issues. The City Council also has sole responsibility for approving the city budget and each member is limited to three consecutive terms in office and can run again after a four-year respite. Artak Zeynalyan
Artak Haykazi Zeynalyan ( hy, Արտակ Հայկազի Զեյնալյան; born 9 September 1969) is an Armenian political figure, lawyer and former Minister of Justice. Biography Artak Zeynalyan was born on 9 September 1969 in Yerevan. He served in the Soviet Army from 1987 to 1989. He fought in the First Nagorno-Karabakh War as a member of the Nikol Duman Volunteer Unit. He was wounded in 1992 and lost a leg as a result. He is a founding member of the Yerkrapah Volunteer Union. In 1996 he graduated from the Medical Faculty of the Mkhitar Heratsi Yerevan State Medical University. In 1999 he completed his residency at the National Institute of Health. He holds the degree of surgeon and organizer of healthcare. In 2002, he graduated from the Academy of Management of the Republic of Armenia, earning the title of State Employee.
