Luxembourg Communal Council
Luxembourg communal council (french: Conseil communal de Luxembourg) is the local council for the commune of Luxembourg City, in southern Luxembourg. It consists of twenty-seven members, elected every six years by proportional representation. Current composition The last elections were held on 9 October 2011, and resulted in a victory for the Democratic Party (DP). In the '' collège échevinal'', the DP forms a coalition with The Greens, who have the third-largest contingent, under the leadership of DP mayor Lydie Polfer. 2017 elections Below are the results of the communal elections of 8 October 2017. Laurent Mosar
Laurent Mosar (born 8 February 1958 in Luxembourg City) is a Luxembourgish politician and lawyer. He is a member of the Christian Social People's Party (CSV) and sits in the Chamber of Deputies. He was the President of the Chamber from 2009 to 2013. Mosar joined the CSV since 1979; at the time, his father, Nicolas, was a CSV deputy, and soon-to-be European Commissioner. Laurent was elected to the Chamber of Deputies in 1994, representing the Centre constituency. He entered the communal council of Luxembourg City on 27 November 1997, and has remained there since, including his time as an '' échevin'' from 2000 until 2005, when the DP-CSV coalition broke down after the 2005 elections. Paul Helminger
Paul Helminger (28 October 1940 – 16 April 2021) was a Luxembourgish politician who was Mayor of Luxembourg City from 1999 to November 2011. He was a member of the Chamber of Deputies for the Democratic Party (from 1994 to 2012, and previously from 1984 until 1989). Biography Born in Esch-sur-Alzette in 1940, Paul Helminger moved with his family to Belair, a quarter in western Luxembourg City, when he was one year old. After he attained his baccalaureate in the Athénée de Luxembourg in 1959, Helminger went on to study law at the Sorbonne in Paris until 1963. At the same time, he also studied at the Institut d'Études Politiques and attained a degree in international relations in 1963. Colette Flesch
Colette Flesch (born 16 April 1937 in Dudelange) is a Luxembourgish politician and former fencer. Life She gained a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Wellesley College in 1960, then earned an M.A. in International Affairs from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University, before studying at The Hague Academy of International Law.
