Lusi, Greece
Lusi or Lousoi ( grc, Λουσοί, Λοῦσοι, Λουσσοί, or τὰ Λοῦσσα) was a city in the Arcadian Azania toward the north of ancient Arcadia, originally independent of, but afterwards subject to, Cleitor. Lusi was situated in the upper valley of the Aroanius, at about elevation in the Aroanian mountains, near present Kalavryta. The upper valley of the Aroanius consists of two plains, of which the more easterly is the one through which the Aroanius flows, the waters of which force their way through a gorge in the mountains into the plain of Cleitor to the south. The more westerly plain is entirely shut in by a range of hills; and the waters of three streams which flow into this plain are carried off by a katavothra (underground channel), after forming an inundation, apparently the Lacus Clitorius mentioned by Pliny the Elder. The air was damp and cold; and in this locality the best hemlock was grown. Lusi was still independent in the 58th Olympiad (); since one ...

Sidoarjo Mud Flow
The Sidoarjo mud flow (commonly known as ''Lumpur Lapindo,'' wherein ''lumpur'' is the Indonesian word for mud) is the result of an erupting mud volcano in the subdistrict of Porong, Sidoarjo in East Java, Indonesia that has been in eruption since May 2006. It is the biggest mud volcano in the world; responsibility for it was credited to the blowout of a natural gas well drilled by PT Lapindo Brantas, although company officials contend it was caused by a very distant earthquake that occurred in a different province. At its peak it spewed up to of mud per day. By mid August 2011, mud was being discharged at a rate of per day, with 15 bubbles around its gushing point. This was a significant decline from the previous year, when mud was being discharged at a rate of per day with 320 bubbles around its gushing point. It is expected that the flow will continue for the next 25 to 30 years. Although the Sidoarjo mud flow has been contained by levees since November 2008, resultant ...

Tropical Cyclone Lusi
The tropics are the regions of Earth surrounding the Equator. They are defined in latitude by the Tropic of Cancer in the Northern Hemisphere at N and the Tropic of Capricorn in the Southern Hemisphere at S. The tropics are also referred to as the tropical zone and the torrid zone (see geographical zone). In terms of climate, the tropics receive sunlight that is more direct than the rest of Earth and are generally hotter and wetter as they aren't affected as much by the solar seasons. The word "tropical" sometimes refers to this sort of climate in the zone rather than to the geographical zone itself. The tropical zone includes deserts and snow-capped mountains, which are not tropical in the climatic sense. The tropics are distinguished from the other climatic and biomatic regions of Earth, which are the middle latitudes and the polar regions on either side of the equatorial zone. The tropics constitute 40% of Earth's surface area and contain 36% of Earth's landmass. , t ...
