Luquillo
Luquillo () is a town and municipality of Puerto Rico located in the northeast coast, northwest of Fajardo; and east of Rio Grande. Luquillo is spread over 5 barrios and Luquillo Pueblo (the downtown area and the administrative center of the city). It lends its name to the Sierra de Luquillo, where El Yunque National Forest is located. It is part of the Fajardo Metropolitan Statistical Area. The city of Luquillo is 26 square miles and it sits on 12 miles of Atlantic coastline. It is nestled between the blue waters of the Atlantic and the El Yunque National Forest, a rainforest, giving it a diverse and unique ecology. Luquillo marks the beginning of the Northeast Ecological Corridor Nature Reserve which runs down the coast from downtown Luquillo all the way down to the Seven Seas Beach in Fajardo. Sierra De Luquillo
The Sierra de Luquillo (English: "Luquillo Mountains") is a steep-sided, high-precipitation, and deeply-forested subrange of the Cordillera Central mountain range in the main island of Puerto Rico. Separated from the southeastern Sierra de Cayey subrange by the Caguas Valley, it is concentrated from west to east in the municipalities of Rio Grande, Luquillo, and Naguabo in the northeastern region of the island. The summit of the mountain range is El Toro at 3,526 ft. (1,075 m), and its most recognizable peak is El Yunque at 3,461 ft. (1,054 m). El Yunque National Forest
El Yunque National Forest (), formerly known as the Caribbean National Forest (or ''Bosque Nacional del Caribe''), is a forest located in northeastern Puerto Rico. While there are both temperate and tropical rainforests in other states and territories, it is the only tropical rainforest in the United States National Forest System and the United States Forest Service. El Yunque National Forest is located on the slopes of the Sierra de Luquillo mountains, encompassing more than 28,000 acres (43.753 mi2 or 113.32 km2) of land, making it the largest block of public land in Puerto Rico. The forest contains and is named after named Pico El Yunque, the second highest mountain in the Sierra de Luquillo. Northeast Ecological Corridor
The Northeast Ecological Corridor Nature Reserve (NECNR) (Spanish language, Spanish: ''Reserva Natural Corredor Ecológico del Noreste'') refers to an area designated as a protected Nature reserve, Nature Reserve located on the northeast coast of Puerto Rico, between the municipalities of Luquillo, Puerto Rico, Luquillo and Fajardo, Puerto Rico, Fajardo.
