Taiwan Railways Administration
Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA) is a railway operator in Taiwan. It is an agency of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, responsible for managing, maintaining, and running conventional passenger and freight railway services on 1097 km of track in Taiwan. Since Taiwan is heavily urbanised with a high population density, railways have played an important part in domestic transportation since the late 19th century. Taroko Express
The ''Taroko Express'' () is an express train service of the Taiwan Railways Administration, and is part of ''Tze-Chiang'' Limited Express. The name of the service comes from the long Taroko Gorge, which is one of Taiwan's most popular tourist spots, and the Truku people. It began commercial operations on 16 February 2007. The ''Taroko Express'' uses the tilting electrical multiple unit series known as TEMU1000 based on the JR Kyushu 885 series. They were imported to Taiwan in 2006; since 2007, they have been running between Hualien and Taipei City, on the curved Yilan line at the existing narrow gauge tracks, where they reduced traveling time between the two places from previously 3 hours down to about 2 hours. Luodong Forestry Culture Park
The Luodong Forestry Culture Park () is a park in Luodong Township, Yilan County, Taiwan. History In 1905, the original site of the park became a major timber production area of the Luodong Branch of the Taiping Forest Area, drawn by the Forestry Agency of the Empire of Japan. The logs used to be transported out of Yilan on the Lanyang River. In 1921, the agency purchased a Taiwan Sugar Railway from the Taiwan Sugar Factory and used it as the Luodong Forest Railway to transport timber. In 1982, the government adjusted its policies on the forestry industry and production from the area started to decline. In 1994–2001, the Third Luodong Township Urban Planning Review designated the area to be a special forestry industry culture site. In 2004, the Forestry Bureau unveiled a plan to turn the area into a culture park. Dongshan River Water Park
Dongshan River Water Park (), established in 1993, is a park located in Wujie, Yilan, Wujie Township, Yilan County, Taiwan, Yilan County, Taiwan, on the shores of the Dongshan River. Its slogan is "Near water, Have green" (親近水、擁有綠). It is one of Taiwan's most famous scenic spots. Yilan Line
The Yilan Line () is the northern section of the Eastern Line of the Taiwan Railways Administration in Taiwan. It has a length of 95 km. History This railroad was completed in 1924 as the Giran-sen during Imperial Japanese rule over Taiwan. It was expanded to two tracks in the early 1980s. In 2000, it was electrified between Badu and Luodong, while the remaining part was completed in 2003. On 4 December 2020, a landslide buried a section of the line between Houtong and Ruifang Station in Ruifang District, resulting in the rail service disruption along the line. Emergency work was then carried out to remove the 10,000 m3 debris and to restore the overhead line. On 14 December, the line was fully reopened for service.
