Luodong Forestry Culture Park
The Luodong Forestry Culture Park () is a park in Luodong Township, Yilan County, Taiwan. History In 1905, the original site of the park became a major timber production area of the Luodong Branch of the Taiping Forest Area, drawn by the Forestry Agency of the Empire of Japan. The logs used to be transported out of Yilan on the Lanyang River. In 1921, the agency purchased a Taiwan Sugar Railway from the Taiwan Sugar Factory and used it as the Luodong Forest Railway to transport timber. In 1982, the government adjusted its policies on the forestry industry and production from the area started to decline. In 1994–2001, the Third Luodong Township Urban Planning Review designated the area to be a special forestry industry culture site. In 2004, the Forestry Bureau unveiled a plan to turn the area into a culture park. Luodong Sports Park () is a park in Luodong Township, Yilan County, Taiwan. Architecture The park covers 47 hectares of land and it includes a range of facilities for sport including basketball and a swimming pool. Yilan County, alternately spelled I-lan, is a County (Taiwan), county in northeastern Taiwan, Republic of China. Name The name ''Yilan'' derives from the Taiwanese indigenous peoples, indigenous Kavalan people. Other former names in reference to this area in the Yilan Plain include ''Kabalan'', ''Kavalan'', ''Kavaland'', ''kap-a-lan'', ''Yiland'' and ''Gilan''. Before 2009, the county's official name was transliterated as Ilan. History Early history Since early ages, many people have traveled from far places to Yilan. Taiwanese aborigines, Indigenous tribes that have settled in Yilan are Kavalan people and Atayal people. Lin Tsung-hsien
Lin Tsung-hsien or Lin Tsong-shyan (; born 22 February 1962) is a Taiwanese politician. He was elected Yilan County Magistrate in 2009 and served until 2017, when he was appointed to lead the Council of Agriculture. Education and early career Lin was born in Luodong to a family of farmers, and received his bachelor's degree from Chiayi Agricultural College and master's degree from Fo Guang University. Upon completion of mandatory military service, Lin became an insurance agent. Political career Lin became active in Luodong Township's local politics in 1988, having worked his way up to the position of district secretary-general by 1994. Yilan Line
The Yilan Line () is the northern section of the Eastern Line of the Taiwan Railways Administration in Taiwan. It has a length of 95 km. History This railroad was completed in 1924 as the Giran-sen during Imperial Japanese rule over Taiwan. It was expanded to two tracks in the early 1980s. In 2000, it was electrified between Badu and Luodong, while the remaining part was completed in 2003. On 4 December 2020, a landslide buried a section of the line between Houtong and Ruifang Station in Ruifang District, resulting in the rail service disruption along the line. Emergency work was then carried out to remove the 10,000 m3 debris and to restore the overhead line. On 14 December, the line was fully reopened for service.
