Luminous Studio
, originally called , is a multi-platform game engine developed and used internally by Square Enix and later on by Luminous Productions. The engine was developed for and targeted at eighth-generation hardware and DirectX 11-compatible platforms, such as Xbox One, the PlayStation 4, and versions of Microsoft Windows. It was conceived during the development of ''Final Fantasy XIII-2'' to be compatible with next generation consoles that their existing platform, Crystal Tools, could not handle. The engine powered the tech demos ''Agni's Philosophy'' and ''Witch Chapter 0'' initially, and has since been used in two of company's titles—''Final Fantasy XV'', an entry in their ''Final Fantasy'' franchise, and an original IP titled ''Forspoken''. In early 2018, the development team of ''Final Fantasy XV'' was established by Square Enix as a new subsidiary studio dubbed Luminous Productions. The aim was to create new AAA video games for a global audience using the Luminous Engine. Histor ...

Luminous Flame
A luminous flame is a burning flame which is brightly visible. Much of its output is in the form of visible light, as well as heat or light in the non-visible wavelengths. An early study of flame luminosity was conducted by Michael Faraday and became part of his series of Royal Institution Christmas Lectures, ''The Chemical History of a Candle''. Luminosity In the simplest case, the yellow flame is luminosity, luminous due to small soot particles in the flame which are heated to incandescence. Producing a deliberately luminous flame requires either a shortage of combustion air (as in a Bunsen burner) or a local excess of fuel (as for a kerosene torch). Because of this dependency upon relatively inefficient combustion, luminosity is associated with diffusion flames and is lessened with premixed flames. The flame is yellow because of its temperature. To produce enough soot to be luminous, the flame is operated at a lower temperature than its efficient heating flame (see #Bunsen b ...

Luminance
Luminance is a photometric measure of the luminous intensity per unit area of light travelling in a given direction. It describes the amount of light that passes through, is emitted from, or is reflected from a particular area, and falls within a given solid angle. Brightness is the term for the ''subjective'' impression of the ''objective'' luminance measurement standard (see for the importance of this contrast). The SI unit for luminance is candela per square metre (cd/m2). A non-SI term for the same unit is the nit. The unit in the Centimetre–gram–second system of units (CGS) (which predated the SI system) is the stilb, which is equal to one candela per square centimetre or 10 kcd/m2. Description Luminance is often used to characterize emission or reflection from flat, diffuse surfaces. Luminance levels indicate how much luminous power could be detected by the human eye looking at a particular surface from a particular angle of view. Luminance is thus an i ...

Luminosity
Luminosity is an absolute measure of radiated electromagnetic power (light), the radiant power emitted by a light-emitting object over time. In astronomy, luminosity is the total amount of electromagnetic energy emitted per unit of time by a star, galaxy, or other astronomical object. In SI units, luminosity is measured in joules per second, or watts. In astronomy, values for luminosity are often given in the terms of the luminosity of the Sun, ''L''⊙. Luminosity can also be given in terms of the astronomical magnitude system: the absolute bolometric magnitude (''M''bol) of an object is a logarithmic measure of its total energy emission rate, while absolute magnitude is a logarithmic measure of the luminosity within some specific wavelength range or filter band. In contrast, the term ''brightness'' in astronomy is generally used to refer to an object's apparent brightness: that is, how bright an object appears to an observer. Apparent brightness depends on both the lumin ...

Luminous (The Horrors Album)
''Luminous'' is the fourth studio album by English rock band the Horrors. It was released on 5 May 2014 by record label XL. Critical reception At ''Alternative Press'', Annie Zaleski rated the album 4 stars, remarking how "''Luminous'' certainly wears its influences proudly; however, the record boasts undeniable energy and urgency". Pitchfork's Ian Cohen said, "They have €¦astered their sound and vision, and hopefully they can grow to recognize their heart and soul, too", while Heather Phares of AllMusic stated that "''Luminous'' proves the Horrors still have a sense of adventure; they sound comfortable, but not too comfortable to try new things". Consequence of Sound reviewer Kristofer Lenz also praised the album, saying, "Across the b ...

Luminous (EP)
Cesium_137 is an American futurepop musical group composed of Isaac Glendening and Vince Guzzardo. It originally also included Matt Cargill. History The group's first release was the album ''Advanced/Decay'' in 2001 on Tonedeaf Records. Its style was electro-industrial. It gained widespread attention, particularly with the moody dance track "Regrets," which was also released as a single and became a danceclub hit. Soon after the September 11, 2001 attacks, Matt Cargill joined the U.S. military and was no longer available as a member of Cesium_137. Cesium_137 had a hiatus of three years before their next release. That release was ''Elemental'' in 2004; it was issued with Metropolis Records, a much more prominent label than Tonedeaf. It was soon followed by an E.P. release, ''Luminous'', also in 2004 on Metropolis; it composed largely of remixed material from ''Elemental''. Cesium_137's style was much mellower and synthpop inspired and less angst-ridden on these releases than on ...
