Microsoft Lumia 550 is a budget smartphone manufactured by Microsoft Mobile as part of its Microsoft Lumia, Lumia family of Microsoft Windows, Windows-based mobile computing products. It was introduced along with the Microsoft Lumia 950, Lumia 950 and the Microsoft Lumia 950 XL, Lumia 950 XL on 6 October 2015 at a press event held in New York City. The Lumia 550 was released in December 2015 with Windows 10 Mobile version 1511. Windows 10 Mobile version 1607, Anniversary Update was released in August 2016. Windows 10 Mobile version 1709, Fall Creators Update, was the final software update. Microsoft Mobile
Microsoft Mobile was a subsidiary of Microsoft involved in the development and manufacturing of mobile phones. Based in Espoo, Finland, it was established in 2014 following the acquisition of Nokia's Devices and Services division by Microsoft in a deal valued at €5.4 billion, which was completed in April 2014. Nokia's then-CEO, Stephen Elop, joined Microsoft as president of its Devices division following the acquisition, and the acquisition was part of Steve Ballmer's strategy to turn Microsoft into a "devices and services" company. Under a 10-year licensing agreement, Microsoft Mobile held rights to sell feature phones running the S30+ platform under the Nokia brand. Pixel Density
Pixels per inch (ppi) and pixels per centimetre (ppcm or pixels/cm) are measurements of the pixel density of an electronic image device, such as a computer monitor or television display, or image digitizing device such as a camera or image scanner. Horizontal and vertical density are usually the same, as most devices have square pixels, but differ on devices that have non-square pixels.
