Lulu Johnson (politician)
Mlungisi "Lulu" Johnson (born 5 February 1964) is a South African politician who represented the African National Congress (ANC) in the National Assembly of South Africa, National Assembly from 2004 to 2019. He served as President of the ANC Youth League from 1994 to 1996 and was the President of the Congress of South African Students during apartheid from 1983 to 1985. He also served on the ANC National Executive Committee of the African National Congress, National Executive Committee from 1994 to 1997. During his three terms in Parliament, Johnson chaired the List of committees of the Parliament of South Africa, Portfolio Committee on Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and List of committees of the Parliament of South Africa, Portfolio Committee on Water and Sanitation. He left his seat after the 2019 South African general election, 2019 general election, in which the ANC controversially declined to nominate him for re-election. The African National Congress (ANC) is a Social democracy, social-democratic political party in Republic of South Africa, South Africa. A liberation movement known for its opposition to apartheid, it has governed the country since 1994, when the 1994 South African general election, first post-apartheid election installed Nelson Mandela as President of South Africa. Cyril Ramaphosa, the incumbent national President, has served as President of the ANC since 18 December 2017.
