Luke Thompson (rugby League)
Luke Thompson (born 27 April 1995) is an English professional rugby league footballer, who plays as and for Wigan Warriors in the Super League, and for England and Great Britain at international level. He has played his most of his professional career to date for St Helens, with whom he won the 2014 Super League Grand Final. He has also spent time on loan from Saints at the Rochdale Hornets in the Championship 1. Background Thompson was born in Wigan, Greater Manchester, England. Career Thompson had been at St Helens since he was 11 (signing from Bold Miners). 2013 Thompson made his Super League debut during the 2013 season in the Saints' 21-14 round 9 loss against the London Broncos. Higher End
Higher End or Billinge Higher End is an area of the Metropolitan Borough of Wigan, Greater Manchester, England. Governance Billinge was a civil parish lying within the historic county boundaries of Lancashire on 2 February 1837 it was divided into two townships, Billinge Chapel End and Billinge Higher End when the Wigan poor law union was formed merging the workhouse provision of 20 parishes in the Wigan area. The poor law union built the Wigan Poor Law Infirmary in 1906 which became Billinge Hospital. In 1872 Billinge Local Board of Health was established for the area of these two townships and two detached parts of Winstanley township (one known as Blackley Hurst and the other situated in the Carr Mill area, both lying within the area of Billinge Chapel End township). The Penrith Panthers are an Australian professional rugby league football club based in the western Sydney suburb of Penrith that competes in the NRL. The National Rugby League (NRL) is an Australasian rugby league club competition which contains clubs from New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria, the Australian Capital Territory and New Zealand. The Salford Red Devils are a professional rugby league club in Salford, Greater Manchester, England, who play in the Super League. The 2019 Super League Grand Final was the 22nd official Grand Final and championship-deciding game of Super League XXIV. It was held at Old Trafford in Manchester on 12 October 2019. The final was contested by St. Helens and Salford Red Devils (who were appearing in their first ever grand final). The 2019 Challenge Cup Final was the deciding game of the Rugby Football League's 2019 Challenge Cup competition, the 118th staging of the competition. The match was held at Wembley Stadium in London on 24 August 2019 with kick off at 15:00. The Castleford Tigers are a professional rugby league club in Castleford, West Yorkshire, England, that compete in the Super League, the top-level professional rugby league club competition in the Northern Hemisphere.
