Luke Bateman (born 23 January 1995) is an Australian professional rugby league footballer who plays as a and forward for the Wynnum-Manly Seagulls in the Intrust Super Cup. He previously played for the Canberra Raiders. Background Bateman was born in Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia. Bateman played his junior football for the Souths Logan Magpies and Miles Devils, before being signed by the Canberra Raiders. Playing career Early career From 2013 to 2015, Bateman played for the Canberra Raiders' National Youth Competition (rugby league), NYC team, captaining the side in 2014 and 2015. The National Rugby League (NRL) is an Australasian rugby league club competition which contains clubs from New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria, the Australian Capital Territory and New Zealand. Newtown Jets
The Newtown Jets are an Australian rugby league football club based in Newtown, a suburb of Sydney's inner west. They currently compete in the NSW Cup competition, having left the top grade after the 1983 NSWRFL season.
