Luitgard Of Luxemburg
Lutgardis of Luxembourg, also known as Liutgardis, Liutgarde and Lutgard, (955 – ca. 1005 or possibly later) was a countess consort of Holland by marriage to Arnulf, Count of Holland. She was the regent of Holland from 993 until 1005 during the minority of her son Dirk III of Holland. Life She was a daughter of Siegfried of Luxembourg and Hedwig of Nordgau. Her sister was Cunigunde of Luxembourg. She married Arnulf, Count of Holland. On the death of her spouse in 993, she became regent of Holland during the minority of her son, Dirk III. She maintained control of the county with the support of her former brother-in-law, Henry II, Holy Roman Emperor, Emperor Henry II. On 20 September 993, Liutgard donated her properties at Rugge (Avelgem), Rugge to Saint Peter's abbey of Ghent for the soul of her husband. According to Thietmar of Merseburg, Thietmar's Chronicle, possibly in June 1005, she made peace with the West Friesland (historical region), West-Frisians through mediation by ...

The House of Luxembourg (or Luxembourg), also known as the House of Ardenne–Luxembourg in order to distinguish it from later families, were a Lotharingian noble family known from the tenth and eleventh centuries. They are one of the three main branches of the House of Ardenne, along with the House of Ardenne–Verdun, and the House of Ardenne–Bar. All these Ardennes families descended from Cunigunda of France, a granddaughter of the West Frankish king Louis the Stammerer, and her husband Wigeric of Lotharingia. The Luxembourg branch descend from their son Sigfried, Count of the Ardennes. One continuing male-line branches of the House of Luxembourg include the House of Salm. The later House of Limburg, Dukes of Limbourg, whose descendants became Dukes of Luxembourg and a royal dynasty in Germany, descend from the House of Ardennes-Luxembourg through the daughter of Frederick, Duke of Lower Lorraine.
