Luis Vidales
Luis Vidales (26 July 1904 – 14 June 1990) was a Colombian poet, writer, statistician and politician. Born in Calarcá, Quindío, Colombia. In Bogotá, he was a founding member of the literary group Los Nuevos, where he participated in various literary and political gatherings with Luis Tejada, Ricardo Rendon, León de Greiff, José Mar and others. Biography From 1930 Vidales began militancy in the Colombian Communist Party, holding the role of general secretary between 1932 and 1934 . He worked regularly in newspapers such as El Espectador and El Tiempo. In 1932 he assumed the post of editor-in-chief of the daily ''Tierra'', an official organ of the Communist Party, under the leadership of Guillermo Rodríguez Hernández. As an editor, Vidales waged a vigorous campaign against the Colombian-Peruvian War, calling on soldiers from both nations to fraternize at the front and 'turn their weapons against their own officers. Julio César Turbay Ayala
Julio César Turbay Ayala (18 June 1916 – 13 September 2005) was a Colombian lawyer and politician who served as the 25th President of Colombia from 1978 to 1982. He also held the positions of Foreign Minister and Ambassador to the United States. Biographic data Turbay was born in a rich neighborhood of ''“Voto Nacional”'', Bogotá, on June 18, 1916. His father, Antonio Amín Turbay, was a businessman who emigrated from Tannourine, Lebanon. His mother, Rosaura Ayala, was a peasant from the province of Cundinamarca. Calarcá
Calarcá is a municipality in the eastern part of the department of Quindío Department, Quindío, Colombia. It is located 4 km east of the departmental capital Armenia, Colombia, Armenia. Its nickname is ''La Villa del Cacique'' in homage of its writers. The city was founded in 1886 by Segundo Henao during the time of colonization by people from Antioquia Department. It is the second city in Quindío with major quantity of inhabitants. In 2016 it had an estimated population of 78,779, of which 59,986 live in the main urban zone. Alberto Lleras Camargo
Alberto Lleras Camargo (3 July 1906 – 4 January 1990) was the 20th President of Colombia (1958–1962), and the 1st Secretary General of the Organization of American States (1948–1954). A journalist and liberal party politician, he also served as Minister of Government, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and as Minister of National Education in the administrations of President Alfonso López Pumarejo. He briefly attended the National University of Colombia in Bogotá to study politics, but dropped out later to pursue journalism. Lleras Camargo served as congressman of Colombia. He was also a cousin of later president Carlos Lleras Restrepo. He died in 1990 after suffering a long illness.
