Luis Rivera Marín
Luis Gerardo Rivera Marín (born September 14, 1960) is an attorney-at-law and notary, who served as Secretary of State of Puerto Rico, secretary of state of Puerto Rico. Prior to this designation, Rivera Marín served as executive director of the Puerto Rico Tourism Company and as the Secretary of Consumer Affairs of Puerto Rico, secretary of consumer affairs of Puerto Rico. He had to resign to his position as Secretary of State due to the Telegramgate scandal, taking effect on July 31, 2019. Biography Rivera Marín graduated from the Colegio San Ignacio de Loyola and from the Colegio Marista Guaynabo, Colegio Maristas. The secretary of state of Puerto Rico () leads all efforts promoting the cultural, political, and economical relations between Puerto Rico and jurisdictions within the United States or foreign countries. Pedro Rafael Pierluisi Urrutia (born April 26, 1959) is an American politician and lawyer who served as the Governor of Puerto Rico from 2021 to 2025, having previously been the de facto governor from August 2–7, 2019. General elections were held in Puerto Rico on Tuesday, November 6, 2012, to elect the officials of the Puerto Rican government that would serve for the next four years, including the governor, resident commissioner and members of the Legislative Assembly. A status referendum was held on the same date. The gubernatorial elections were won by then-Senator Alejandro García Padilla from the Popular Democratic Party (PPD), who defeated incumbent governor Luis Fortuño from the New Progressive Party (PNP) in a close election.
