Luis Felipe Ortega
Luis Felipe Ortega (born 1966, Mexico City) is a Mexican contemporary artist. Since 1993 he has exhibited individually and collectively both in Mexico and abroad. He was a Representative of Mexico's Pavilion in the 56th Venice Biennale in 2015 with Tania Candiani. His dedication on presenting various ideas and visions are honorable as he approached it by means of various mediums such as videos, audio, drawings, sculptures, and installations. Biography His career started in the 1990s as a writer for the newspaper, La Jornada and El Nacional. Since the start of his career, Luis Felipe Ortega has worked on many publication throughout his careers. Some of these books are editorial projects, book projects, and/or catalogues from previous exhibits. In 2002 he became an artist resident at the International Studio and Curatorial Program (ISCP) and soon after he exhibited in various exhibitions at a global scale. Tania Candiani
Tania Candiani (born 1974) is a Mexican artist known for her interdisciplinary, large-scale, multimedia installations. In 2011, she was named a Guggenheim Fellow. Candiani was born in Mexico City. She was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship in Fine Arts in 2011. During her fellowship term, she worked on a project exploring the interconnectedness of the construction of our homes, garments, and self-identities. Candiani has shown her work around the world, including the Meno Parkas Galerija in Lithuania, Kunsthaus Miami in Florida, and the Museum of Contemporary Art in San Diego, and her work is held by museums such as the Centro Cultural Tijuana, the Mexican Museum in San Francisco, and the Museum of Latin American Art in Los Angeles. La Jornada
''La Jornada'' (''The Working Day'') is one of Mexico City's leading daily newspapers. It was established in 1984 by Carlos Payán Velver. The current editor ''(directora general)'' is Carmen Lira Saade. ''La Jornada'' has presence in eight states of the Mexican Republic with local editions in Aguascalientes, Guerrero, Jalisco, Michoacán, Morelos, San Luis Potosí, Puebla and Veracruz ''(La Jornada de Oriente).'' Museo Amparo
The Museo Amparo, located in the historic center of Puebla City, is one of the most important historical museums in Mexico. It was inaugurated in 1991 and sponsored by the Amparo Foundation, which was founded in 1979 by Manuel Espinoza Yglesias in honor of his wife. The museum is housed in two colonial-era buildings that date from the 17th and 18th centuries, which were popularly known as the Hospitalario. One of the buildings was the Hospital de Nuestra Señora y San Juan de Letrán founded in 1534. This building was made into a college for women by Bishop Juan de Palafox y Mendoza in the middle of the 18th century, and remained so until the 20th century. The other building is from the 18th century with a brick facade. It was part of the hospital for a time, then was converted into a “refuge” for married women.
