Luis Nicanor Pablo Díaz González-Viana, ( Zamora, June 1951), is a Spanish anthropologist, philologist and writer. He is considered a pioneer of Spanish anthropology specializing in popular culture, ethnology and identities. He is a researcher at the Spanish National Research Council (''Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas''-CSIC). Academic career and contributions Academic career Díaz Viana studied 'Romance Philology' at the University of Valladolid, graduating in 1977. He obtained his doctorate in 1979 with the thesis titled ''The Oral Spanish Ballad in the province of Valladolid'', published in the first two volumes of the ''Folklore Catalog of the Province of Valladolid'). Luis Díaz Portorreal, best known as Luis Días, was a musician, composer and performer of popular music born in the Dominican Republic. He was immersed in the popular music and customs of Dominican folklore. In the artistic realms he is known as "El Terror" (''"The Terror"''), due to his particular performance style and his overtones. He was the author of lyrics and music that fused many diverse musical styles. In some circles, Luis was considered to be the Father of Dominican Rock, due to his contributions to alternative music and his experimentation with Dominican rhythms blended with rock guitar patterns. Cipha Sounds (born Luis Diaz; on April 19, 1976) is an American DJ, comedian, and radio and television personality of Puerto Rico, Puerto Rican descent. He is mostly known for his work as a disc jockey, DJ, a VJ (media personality), VJ for MTV and as a comedian. Biography Radio career In 1996, Sounds started as an intern with Wildman Steve and DJ Riz of New York's Flip Squad, and eventually Riz asked Sounds to spin at clubs with him as an opening DJ. Luis M. Diaz is a former New York State Assembly member for the 86th district, first elected in 2002 when the Bronx district was created. He is a Democrat. In 2008, he stepped down as assemblyman to take a community affairs position in the administration of Governor David A. Paterson. Diaz was appointed Bronx County Clerk for the New York State Supreme Court in 2009. He was suspended in 2020 and resigned in 2022, when he pleaded guilty for falsely certifying that an organized-crime defendant had completed his court-mandated community service from a previous sentence. Luis Mario Díaz Espinoza (born 6 December 1998) is a Costa Rican professional footballer who plays as a winger for Major League Soccer club Columbus Crew and the Costa Rica national team.
