Luis Bru (footballer)
Luis Bru Masipó (13 August 1892 – 23 May 1972), born LluÃs, was a Spanish footballer who played as a goalkeeper for FC Barcelona. He was the first goalkeeper in Spain to play "the English style", which consisted of blocking the ball instead of kicking the ball away. He is best known for his heroics in the semifinals of the 1916 Copa del Rey between Barcelona and Madrid FC, in which he saved three penalties in two matches. Club career Born in Catalonia, he began his career in 1909 in a non-federated team. In 1910, he joined International FC, initially playing as a left midfielder until 1912, when in a match where the goalkeeper was missing, he occupied this position on the pitch, and his performance was so impressive that from then on he always played as a goalkeeper. FC Espanya De Barcelona
FC Espanya de Barcelona, was a Spanish Catalan football club based in Barcelona. They enjoyed a golden age during the 1910s and were Catalan champions three times during the decade. They were also Copa del Rey runners-up in 1914. By 1923 the club had changed its name to Grà cia FC and in 1932 it merged with CE Europa. Founded by three students, Graells, Rossendo and Just, in September 1905, their first game was against an FC Barcelona second team. Camp de la Indústria () or Campo de la calle Indústria was a multi-use stadium in Barcelona, Spain. It was initially used as the home venue of FC Barcelona, until the team moved to Camp de Les Corts in 1922. The capacity of the stadium was 6,000 spectators. The stadium is regarded as the main element that helped the club grew in the 1910s. Eduardo Reguera Andreu (13 October 1891 – 20 December 1977) was a Spanish footballer who played as a defender for FC Espanya and FC Barcelona. Reguera was one of the most important footballers in the amateur beginnings of FC Espanya, being a pivotal piece in turning FC Espanya into an important team in Catalonia. Ricardo Zamora MartÃnez (; 14 February 1901 – 8 September 1978) was a Spanish footballer and manager. He played as a goalkeeper for, among others, RCD Espanyol, FC Barcelona and Real Madrid. As an international he played for both the Catalan XI and Spain. As a manager, he won two La Liga titles with Atlético Aviación and briefly managed Spain. Zamora, nicknamed ''El Divino'', was noted for wearing a cloth cap and a white polo-neck jumper on the field, a look later copied by several of his contemporaries. He claimed it was to protect him from both the sun and his opponents. An own goal, also called a self goal, is where a player performs actions that result in them or their team scoring a goal on themselves, often resulting in a point for the opposing team, such as when a football player kicks a ball into their own net or goal, awarding the other team a point. Santiago Bernabéu de Yeste (; 8 June 1895 – 2 June 1978) was a Spanish footballer who played for Real Madrid as a forward. Sotero Aranguren Labairu (7 May 1894 – 26 February 1922), was an Argentine footballer born in Buenos Aires who spend his youth in Basque Country. He was a midfielder and played most of his career for Real Madrid CF. He and his brother Eulogio were team-mates at Real Madrid. Biography He played for Real Madrid for seven years, between 1911 and 1918, scoring 4 goals in 60 matches. He is considered "the first white symbol" by the Real Madrid official website. His premature death at the age of 28 led the club to build a statue representing Sotero and one of his team-mates, Machimbarrena (who also died young) at the entrance of the first team's locker room. José Angel Berraondo Insausti (born 4 November 1878 in San Sebastián and died 11 April 1950) was a Spanish footballer, referee and manager.
