Luigi Omodei (1608 – 26 April 1685) was an Italian people, Italian Catholicism, Catholic Cardinal (Catholicism), Cardinal. Early life Omodei was born in 1608 in Milan, the son of Carlo Omodei, first Marquis of Piovera, and Beatrice Lurani. His nephew, also named Luigi Omodei (1657–1706), Luigi Omodei, was also a cardinal. He was educated at the University of Perugia in Perugia and received a doctorate in utroque iure, both canon law, canon and Civil law (legal system), civil law. Ecclesiastic career Omodei held several roles in the Roman Curia, notably Commissioner-General of the Papal States under Pope Innocent X. Innocent later made Omodei a cardinal in the Papal consistory, consistory of 19 February 1652 and ''General of the Papal army'' during the Wars of Castro, Second War of Castro. Luigi Omodei (20 March 1657, in Madrid – 18 August 1706, in Rome) was a cardinal of Italian descent. His uncle Luigi Omodei (1607–1685) was also a cardinal. Life His parents were the Milanese nobleman Agostino Omodei, marquess of Almonacid in Spain, and his third wife Maria Pacheco de Moura, from Madrid. He fulfilled several duties in the Roman Curia and was made a cardinal by pope Alexander VIII in the consistory of 13 February 1690. He took part in the 1691 and 1700 As of March 1 ( O.S.
