Lugia
is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's ''Pokémon'' franchise. Created by Takeshi Shudo and drawn by Ken Sugimori, Lugia was the central character of the film '' Pokémon: The Movie 2000.'' It later served as the version mascot of the video game ''Pokémon Silver'' and its remake, '' Pokémon SoulSilver'', appearing both on the box art and in-game. It also appeared in the Pokémon anime, various merchandise, spin-off titles and printed adaptations of the franchise, such as ''Pokémon Adventures''. Takeshi Shudo
was a Japanese scriptwriter and novelist. His major works include anime ''Space Warrior Baldios'', the ''Magical Princess Minky Momo'' series, and ''Pokémon'', of which he created the Pokémon Lugia. He had a reputation for his witty dialogue and was known for the unusual next episode previews in the series he served as chief writer for. In ''Pokémon'', he coined Team Rocket's iconic motto. Conceived by Satoshi Tajiri in early 1989, Pokémon are fictional creatures that inhabit the fictional Pokémon World. is a Japanese manga series based on the ''Pokémon'' media franchise created by video game designer Satoshi Tajiri and managed by The Pokémon Company.
