Lugg Island
Lugg Island is a small island in the Donskiye Islands group lying north-west of Lake Island, off the west end of Breidnes Peninsula, Vestfold Hills, Antarctica. It was first plotted from aerial photos taken by the Lars Christensen Expedition, 1936–37, and was named by the Antarctic Names Committee of Australia for Dr. D. Lugg, medical officer at Davis Station in 1963, who visited the island for biological studies. Important Bird Area The island forms part of the Magnetic Island and nearby islands Important Bird Area (IBA), comprising Magnetic, Turner, Waterhouse, Lugg, Boyd and Bluff Islands, along with intervening islands and marine area. Moreton-on-Lugg
Moreton on Lugg is a village and civil parish in Herefordshire, England. The city and county town of Hereford is approximately to the south; the market and minster town of Leominster to the north. The village lies between the A49 trunk road and the Welsh Marches railway line. At the 2001 Census, the population of the village was 952, which had decreased to 920 by the time of the 2011 Census. The settlement is mentioned in the ''Domesday Book'' as being in the Hundred of Cutestornes and having eight villagers and five slaves. The name derives from Old English ''Mōr-tūn'' (town by a fen), and its proximity to the River Lugg. In Medieval times, the village was listed as ''Morton Juxta Logge''. In the 16th century the Lords of the Manor at Morton-upon-Lugg were the Perrott family. The village had a railway station on the Welsh Marches Line that operated between December 1853 and June 1958. River Lugg
The River Lugg ( cy, Afon Llugwy) rises near Llangynllo in Radnorshire, Wales. It flows through the border town of Presteigne and then through Herefordshire, England, where it meets its main tributary, the River Arrow, to the south of Leominster. It flows into the River Wye downstream of Hereford at Mordiford, around from its source. Its name comes from a Welsh root, and means "bright stream". As it passes through the countryside, it is crossed by a number of bridges, many of which are sufficiently old to have become listed structures. Lugg Bridge at Lugwardine and the bridge at Mordiford with its associated causeway both date from the 14th century. The river at Leominster was altered significantly in the 1960s, when it was diverted to the south and then along the course of the Leominster and Kington Railway around the northern edge of the town, as part of a flood defence scheme. Rheanne Lugg
Rheanne Lugg (born 22 February 1990) is a retired Australian rules footballer who played in the AFL Women's (AFLW) for Adelaide, from 2018 to 2019, and for Brisbane, from 2020 to 2021. State football Lugg played with Swan Districts in the West Australian Women's Football League (WAWFL), alongside Chelsea Randall, and won a premiership with them. She played over 125 games for Swan Districts. In 2017, Lugg played for Riverina Lions in AFL Canberra. Lugg joined Wilston Grange, together with Brianna McFarlane, for the 2020 AFL Queensland Women's League (QAFLW) season. Sheila Tracy (née Lugg; 10 January 1934 – 30 September 2014) was a British broadcaster, writer, musician, and singer. She began her career as a trombone player during the 1950s. in all-female bands. Biography Sheila Lugg was born in Mullion, Cornwall in 1934. She attended Truro Girls School and studied piano, violin and trombone at the Royal Academy of Music, then was a member of the Ivy Benson All Girls Band between 1956 and 1958. Subsequently, she formed a vocal/trombone duo, The Tracy Sisters, who appeared in variety, on radio and television, as well as in cabaret all over the world. When the act broke up, she joined BBC Television as an announcer and worked mostly in television until 1974 when she became the first female newsreader on BBC Radio 4 on 16 July. She also qualified as a Special Policewoman in London. On BBC Radio 2 Tracy devised and presented the ''Truckers' Hour'', based on a format she had learnt about on a visit to the USA.
