The men's singles luge competition at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano was held on 8 and 9 February, at Spiral. Summary The event was won by Georg Hackl, who became the first luger to win the gold medal in 3 successive Winter Olympics after winning the event in Albertville and Lillehammer. Armin Zöggeler of Italy took silver and Jens Müller - the bronze medal. Markus Prock, the silver medalist from Lillehammer, finished outside medal position in 4th. Spiral (bobsleigh, Luge, And Skeleton)
The Spiral is a bobsleigh, luge, and skeleton track located in Iizuna village, located north of Nagano, Japan. Used for the bobsleigh and luge competitions for the 1998 Winter Olympics, it is the first permanent bobsleigh, luge, and skeleton track in Asia and the first of its type in the world with two or more uphill sections. It is officially referred to as the Nagano Bobsleigh-Luge Park in Japan. Bengt Walden
Bengt Otto Walden (born April 16, 1973 in Nacka) is a retired Swedish-born, American luger who has competed since 1985, internationally since 1988, when he joined the Swedish national team. He married American luger Ashley Hayden in 2006, and joined the United States national team in 2007. He switched his citizenship from Sweden to the United States in 2009 in order to be able to compete as an American at the 2010 Olympics. Walden retired from competition after the 2010-11 season. Subsequently, he was appointed as coach of the Norwegian national luge team.
