Ludwigia Grandiflora
''Ludwigia grandiflora'', commonly referred to as Water primrose, is an aquatic plant of the order Myrtales. It is closely related and easily confused with ''Ludwigia hexapetala''. The two species can be distinguished at a chromosomal level, because ''L. grandiflora'' is hexaploid and ''L. hexapetala'' is decaploid. However, they can be distinguished morphologically. ''L. grandiflora'' has villous hairs, smaller flowers and smaller pollen grains. Some authorities consider that these differences are too slight to consider these different species and so separate these taxa as two varieties or two subspecies. Werner Greuter
Werner Rodolfo Greuter, (born February 27, 1938) in Genoa, Italy, as a Swiss national, is a botanist. He is the chair of the Editorial Committee for the ''International Code of Botanical Nomenclature'' (''ICBN'') - the ''Tokyo Code'' (1994) and the ''St Louis Code'' (2000). His proposed policy as regards registration of botanical names proved unpopular and in 1999 he stepped back, not being elected anew: he completed his term as chair to be succeeded at Vienna in 2005. He has returned as a member of the editorial committee, contributing to the renamed International Code of Nomenclature for algae, fungi, and plants, the "Melbourne Code" (2012). Biography Greuter went to schools in Bellinzona and Winterthur, and received his PhD from the University of Zürich in 1972. The Myrtales are an order of flowering plants placed as a sister to the eurosids II clade as of the publishing of the ''Eucalyptus grandis'' genome in June 2014. The APG III system of classification for angiosperms still places it within the eurosids. This finding is corroborated by the placement of the Myrtales in the Malvid clade by the One Thousand Plant Transcriptomes Initiative. List Of Invasive Alien Species Of Union Concern
In 2016, following the EU Regulation 1143/2014 on Invasive Alien Species (IAS), the European Commission published a first list of 37 IAS of Union concern. The list was first updated in 2017 and comprised 49 species. Since the second update in 2019, 66 species are listed as IAS of EU concern. The species on the list are subject to restrictions on keeping, importing, selling, breeding and growing. Member States of the European Union must take measures to stop their spread, implement monitoring and preferably eradicate these species. ''Ludwigia'' (primrose-willow, water-purslane, or water-primrose) is a genus of about 82 species of aquatic plants native to Central and South America with a cosmopolitan but mainly tropical distribution. At current, there is much debate among botanists and plant taxonomists as to the classification of many ''Ludwigia'' species. Botanists from the US Department of Agriculture are currently doing genetic analyses on plants from the Western US and South America to better classify members of this genus.
