Ludwig Wüllner
Ludwig Wüllner (19 August 1858 – 19 March 1938) was a German concert and operatic tenor, as well as an actor and narrator. He is regarded as one of the most versatile and important stage performers of his time. Life Born in Münster, Wüllner was the son of the composer and conductor Franz Wüllner and grandson of the philologist (1798–1842). His mother was Anna, ''née'' Ludorff. He learned to play the piano and violin at an early age and sang in the choir of the , which he attended in 1876 – among others with , Karl Schlösser, Gustav von Schoch and Carl Seitz. From 1876 to 1880, he read German studies in Munich and Berlin and received his doctorate in 1881 in Strasbourg with the topic "Das Hrabanische Glossar und die ältesten Bayrischen Sprachdenkmäler. A grammatical treatise". After further studies in Berlin, he was Privatdozent for German philology at the Royal Theological and Philosophical Academy in Münster (today University of Münster) from 1884 to 1887. ...

Nicola Perscheid
Nicola Perscheid (3 December 1864 – 12 May 1930) was a German photographer. He is primarily known for his artistic portrait photography. He developed the "Perscheid lens", a soft focus lens for large format portrait photography. Life and career Perscheid was born as Nikolaus Perscheid in near Koblenz, German Confederation, where he also went to school. At the age of 15, he began an apprenticeship as a photographer. Subsequently, Perscheid earned his living as an itinerant photographer; he worked, amongst other places, in Saarbrücken, Trier, and Colmar, but also in Nice, Vienna, or Budapest. In Klagenfurt in Austria he finally found a permanent position and on 1 March 1887, he became a member of the Photographic Society of Vienna (''Wiener Photographische Gesellschaft''). Symphony No
A symphony is an extended musical composition in Western classical music, most often for orchestra. Although the term has had many meanings from its origins in the ancient Greek era, by the late 18th century the word had taken on the meaning common today: a work usually consisting of multiple distinct sections or movements, often four, with the first movement in sonata form. Symphonies are almost always scored for an orchestra consisting of a string section (violin, viola, cello, and double bass), brass, woodwind, and percussion instruments which altogether number about 30 to 100 musicians. Symphonies are notated in a musical score, which contains all the instrument parts. Orchestral musicians play from parts which contain just the notated music for their own instrument. Arthur Nikisch
Arthur Nikisch (12 October 185523 January 1922) was a Hungarian conductor who performed internationally, holding posts in Boston, London, Leipzig and—most importantly—Berlin. He was considered an outstanding interpreter of the music of Bruckner, Tchaikovsky, Beethoven and Liszt. Johannes Brahms praised Nikisch's performance of his Fourth Symphony as "quite exemplary, it's impossible to hear it any better." Fritz Steinbach
Fritz Steinbach (17 June 1855 – 13 August 1916) was a German conductor and composer who was particularly associated with the works of Johannes Brahms. Born in Grünsfeld, he was the brother of conductor Emil Steinbach. He studied at the Leipzig Conservatory and in Vienna. Among his teachers were Martin Gustav Nottebohm and Anton Door. In 1886, he succeeded Richard Strauss as the conductor of the Meiningen Court Orchestra. The Altes Theater was the first theatre building in the German city of Leipzig. It was on the site of today's tramway station Goerdelerring near Richard-Wagner-Platz. History Commissioned by the businessman Benedikt Zehmisch in 1766 from the architect Georg Rudolph Fäsch (1710–1787), it was at first called the ''Theater auf der Rannischen Bastei'' and sited on the foundations of a bastion on the city wall.
