Ludvig Sylow (DBU)
Ludvig Sylow (6 October 1861 – 20 February 1933) was a Danish football executive, who was the fifth chairman of the Danish Football Association from 1911 to 1918. He was also a member of FIFA's founding board of directors. Early life Ludvig Sylow was born on 6 October 1861 as the son of a mayor. After a brief stint at the Korsør Realskole, Sylow attended the Sorø Academy in 1877, where he helped to introduce football in 1878. Later that year, he graduated after taking a maths and science exam and was then employed by the Post and Telegraph Service. As a result of this, Sylow was moved to Copenhagen and advanced to mailroom clerk in 1886, and became a post inspector in 1914. Shortly after he moved to Copenhagen in 1879, Sylow became associated with Kjøbenhavns Boldklub (KB), for whom he played several first-team matches in football, tennis, cricket, and was the captain of KB's cricket match team for many years. Danish Football Association
The Danish Football Union ( da, Dansk Boldspil-Union; DBU) is the governing body of football in Denmark. It is the organization of the Danish football clubs and runs the professional Danish football leagues and the men's and women's national teams. It is based in the city of Brøndby and is a founding member of both FIFA and UEFA. The DBU has also been the governing body of futsal in Denmark since 2008. Beginnings The DBU was founded on 18 May 1889 and was the first national football association outside Great Britain and Ireland. However, it did not register games officially before the 1908 Summer Olympics, meaning that the win in the 1906 Intercalated Olympics tournament was not officially recorded by the DBU. Frederik Markmann
Frederik Joachim August Markmann (13 October 1848 – 15 July 1927) was a Danish football executive, who was the first chairman of the Danish Football Association from May 1889 to 1890. Official career Born in 1848 as the son of a master baker, he became a student at the von Westenske Institute in 1866, studied law, and took his master's degree ( Jurist) in 1872. In the following year he was employed as an assistant in the Overformynderiet's bookkeeping, then in the Ministry of Finance. He became a clerk in the Domain Office in 1889, a county administrator for Holstebro Amtstuedistrikt in 1892, appointed county administrator for Vejle Amtstuedistrikt in 1913 and forest treasurer for Randbøl District at the same time. He was dismissed from the state service on 25 September 1921 and was simultaneously appointed Dannebrogsman. Louis Muhlinghaus
Louis Muhlinghaus (1870–1915) was a Belgian football administrator and the 1st General Secretary of FIFA, serving from 1904 to 1906. Muhlinghaus got involved in football through his association with the K.F.C. Rhodienne-De Hoek. Offside is one of the laws in association football, codified in Law 11 of the Laws of the Game. The law states that a player is in an offside position if any of their body parts, except the hands and arms, are in the opponents' half of the pitch, and closer to the opponents' goal line than both the ball and the second-last opponent (the last opponent is usually, but not necessarily, the goalkeeper).
