Lucy Griffiths (actress, Born 1919)
Lucy Griffiths (24 April 1919 – 29 September 1982) was an English actress whose work spanned from the early 1950s to the early 1980s. Born in Birley, Herefordshire, she had a prolific career in both film and television. She is most famous for her roles in numerous Hammer horror films such as ''Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell'' (alongside Peter Cushing), ''The Two Faces of Dr. Jekyll'' (Christopher Lee) and television programmes such as ''On the Buses'', ''Mind Your Language'', '' All Creatures Great and Small'', '' Secret Army'' and ''Z-Cars''. She also had a small, uncredited bit-part in the classic British film ''Genevieve'', as well as several other small uncredited roles in numerous British productions. Murder Ahoy!
''Murder Ahoy!'' is the last of four Miss Marple films made by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer that starred Margaret Rutherford. As in the previous three, the actress plays Agatha Christie's amateur sleuth Miss Jane Marple, with Charles 'Bud' Tingwell as (Chief) Inspector Craddock and Stringer Davis (Rutherford's husband) playing Mr Stringer. The film was made in 1964 and directed by George Pollock, with David Pursall and Jack Seddon credited with the script. The music was by Ron Goodwin. Location shots included Denham Village and St Mawes, Cornwall. ''The Ugly Duckling'' is a 1959 British science fiction comedy film, directed by Lance Comfort and starring Bernard Bresslaw, Jon Pertwee and Reginald Beckwith. The film is a comic adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson's 1886 '' Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde'' storyline and the opening credits include "with ideas stolen from Robert Louis Stevenson". The film has no connection to the Hans Christian Andersen story. The tagline on posters was "He's a changed man after taking Jekyll's family remedy." ''Jack the Ripper'' is a 1959 film produced and directed by Monty Berman and Robert S. Baker. It is loosely based on Leonard Matters' theory that Jack the Ripper was an avenging doctor. The black-and-white film stars Lee Patterson and Eddie Byrne and co-stars Betty McDowall, John Le Mesurier, and Ewen Solon. It was released in England in 1959, and shown in the U.S. in 1960. The plot is a "whodunit" with false leads and a denouement in which the least likely character, in this case "Sir David Rogers" played by Ewen Solon, is revealed as the culprit. As in Matters' book, ''The Mystery of Jack the Ripper'', Solon's character murders prostitutes to avenge the death of his son. ''The Green Man'' is a 1956 black and white British black comedy film based on the play ''Meet a Body'' by Frank Launder and Sidney Gilliat, who produced and adapted the big-screen version. Plot Harry Hawkins is a freelance assassin who is contracted to blow up Sir Gregory Upshott, a prominent and pompous London businessman. By courting Upshott's spinster secretary, Marigold, he learns that his target will be taking one of the firm's typists for a weekend at a seaside hotel called "The Green Man".
