Lucio Flavio (film)
''Lucio Flavio'' ( pt, Lúcio Flávio, o Passageiro da Agonia) is a 1977 Brazilian film directed by Héctor Babenco based on the book of the same name by José Louzeiro, who co-wrote the screenplay. It stars Reginaldo Faria as Lúcio Flávio, a famous bandit in Rio de Janeiro in the 1970s. Babenco did not want to limit the story to Lúcio Flávio, and stated it was also a film about Esquadrão da Morte, a death squad from the 1960s. Héctor Babenco
Héctor Eduardo Babenco (February 7, 1946July 13, 2016) was an Argentine-Brazilian film director, screenwriter, producer and actor who worked in several countries including Brazil, Argentina, and the United States. He was one of the first Brazilian filmmakers to gain international critical acclaim, through his films which often dealt with social outcasts on the fringes of society. His best-known works include ''Pixote'' (1980), '' Kiss of the Spider Woman'' (1985), '' Ironweed'' (1987), ''At Play in the Fields of the Lord'' (1990) and '' Carandiru'' (2003). Babenco's films brought him several accolades. Milton Gonçalves (; 9 December 1933 – 30 May 2022) was a Brazilian actor and television director, who was one of the most famous black actors in Brazil, having collaborated twice with acclaimed director Héctor Babenco. One notable role with Babenco was that alongside William Hurt and Raul Julia as a police chief in '' Kiss of the Spider Woman''. It is a modernized remake of the 1933 film about a giant ape that is captured and taken to New York City for exhibition. The Cinemateca Brasileira is the institution responsible for preserving Brazilian audiovisual production. In July 2021, it experienced a major fire. Since 1940, it has been developing activities around the dissemination and restoration of its collection, with around 250 thousand rolls of films and more than one million documents related to cinema.
