Lucille Maurer
Lucille Maurer (née Darvin; 1922 – June 17, 1996) was the first woman Treasurer of Maryland. Life Maurer graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, and she worked as an economist at the U.S. Tariff Commission. She obtained a Master of Arts in General Studies from Yale University and moved to Montgomery County, Maryland in 1950. In 1969, Maurer was appointed to fill a vacancy in the Maryland House of Delegates after serving two terms on the county school board. She was re-elected to several terms, serving as a member of the Ways and Means Committee for sixteen years and chairing the Education Committee and the Tax and Trade Committee. She was known for her work on educational issues, devising a formula to equalize public education funding by increasing state funds for poorer jurisdictions. Treasurer Of Maryland
The Treasurer of Maryland is responsible for the management and investment of the cash deposits, bond sale revenue, and all other securities and collateral of the state of Maryland in the United States. In addition, the Treasurer conducts regular briefings for the Maryland General Assembly and prepares an annual report on the status of the Treasurer's Office. The Treasurer also sits on the Maryland Board of Public Works. Since 2021, the Treasurer of Maryland has been Dereck E. Davis. From 1775 until 1843, Maryland had a separate state treasurer for both the Eastern Shore of Maryland, eastern and western shores. The University of Maryland Libraries is the largest university library in the Washington, D.C. - Baltimore area. The university's library system includes eight libraries: six are located on the College Park campus, while the Severn Library, an off-site storage facility, is located just outside campus, and the Priddy Library is located on the University System of Maryland satellite campus in Shady Grove.
