Lucien Weiler
Lucien Weiler (born 3 August 1951 in Ettelbruck) is a Luxembourgian politician and jurist. He is a member of the Christian Social People's Party, and served as President of the Chamber of Deputies from 3 August 2004 to 7 June 2009. He was first elected to the Chamber at the 1984 election, representing the Nord circonscription. Weiler also sat on the communal council of Diekirch (1986 – 1993), during which time, he served as an '' échevin'' (1988 – 1993). The Order of Merit ( pt, Ordem do Mérito) is a Portuguese Honorific Order of civil merit intended to award those responsible for meritorious acts or services performed in the exercise of any functions, both in the public and the private sphere, which reveal self-sacrifice in favor of the community. The decorations are given by the President of Portugal, President of the Portuguese Republic, in his role as the Grand-Master of the Portuguese Honorific Orders. Laurent Mosar
Laurent Mosar (born 8 February 1958 in Luxembourg City) is a Luxembourgish politician and lawyer. He is a member of the Christian Social People's Party (CSV) and sits in the Chamber of Deputies. He was the President of the Chamber from 2009 to 2013. Mosar joined the CSV since 1979; at the time, his father, Nicolas, was a CSV deputy, and soon-to-be European Commissioner. Laurent was elected to the Chamber of Deputies in 1994, representing the Centre constituency. He entered the communal council of Luxembourg City on 27 November 1997, and has remained there since, including his time as an '' échevin'' from 2000 until 2005, when the DP-CSV coalition broke down after the 2005 elections. In the 1999 election to the Chamber, Mosar finished seventh out of CSV candidates, with only six elected. An ''échevin'' ( lb, Schäffe; german: Schöffe), sometimes translated as alderman, is a member of the administration of a Luxembourgian commune. Together, they form the ''collège échevinal'' (german: Schöffenrat), which helps the mayor run the administration. In most communes, ''échevins'' have designated roles within the administration, adopting separate briefs as in a cabinet. Ettelbruck
Ettelbruck ( lb, Ettelbréck , german: Ettelbrück ) is a commune with town status in central Luxembourg, with a population of inhabitants. History Until 1850, both Erpeldange and Schieren were part of the Ettelbruck commune as well, but both towns were detached from Ettelbruck by law on 1 July 1850. Nazi Germany occupied Ettelbruck on 10 May 1940. US forces first liberated the town on 11 September 1944 but Germany retook the town on 16 December 1944 during the Battle of the Bulge. US General George S. Patton on Christmas Day, 25 December 1944, led US troops in the final liberation of Ettelbruck from Nazi occupation.
