Luciano Zappata
Admiral Luciano Zappata is an Italian Navy officer who served as Allied Command Transformation, Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Transformation. He graduated from the Naval Academy in 1970 From 1987 to 1988, he commanded the frigate ITS ''Espero'' and from 1992 to 1993 served as commanding officer of the cruiser ITS ''Vittorio Veneto'', participating in Operation Restore Hope. He was promoted to rear admiral in December 1996, holding the positions of commander of the Second and Third Naval Divisions. He later served as Chief of Staff to Commander in Chief Naval Fleet and Vice Inspector for Naval Logistics Support. In January 2005, he was promoted to vice admiral and served as Deputy Chief of Staff of the Italian Navy. Before being promoted to admiral in June 2007 he served as Advisor to the Chief of Staff of the Italian Defence. He assumed the position of Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Transformation on July 2, 2007. References

Allied Command Transformation (ACT) ( French: ''Commandement allié Transformation'') is a military command of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), formed in 2003 after restructuring. It was intended to lead military transformation of alliance forces and capabilities, using new concepts such as the NATO Response Force and new doctrines in order to improve the alliance's military effectiveness. Operation Restore Hope
The Unified Task Force (UNITAF) was a United States-led, United Nations-sanctioned multinational force which operated in Somalia from 5 December 1992 until 4 May 1993. A United States initiative (code-named Operation Restore Hope), UNITAF was charged with carrying out United Nations Security Council Resolution 794 to create a protected environment for conducting humanitarian operations in the southern half of the country.
