Luc Stultiens
Luc Cornelis Joseph Stultiens (born 17 July 1993) is a Dutch politician representing the GroenLinks who was elected to the House of Representatives in the 2023 Dutch general election. His focus has been on higher education, pensions, and government benefits. When an early retirement scheme for workers in physically demanding occupations neared expiration and negotiations about its extension stalled, Stultiens and Bart van Kent ( SP) filed an amendment to make the scheme permanent and to raise its maximum benefits. They planned to fund the expansion through canceling a planned broadening of the earnings stripping rule for large corporations. Social affairs minister Eddy van Hijum subsequently said he believed the negotiations would lead to an agreement about the extension of the early retirement scheme. The House of Representatives (, pronounced ; commonly referred to as the ', literally "Second Chamber of the States General") is the lower house of the bicameral parliament of the Netherlands, the States General, the other one being the Senate. It has 150 seats, which are filled through elections using party-list proportional representation. Generally, the house is located in the Binnenhof in The Hague, however, it has temporarily moved to the former building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at Bezuidenhoutseweg 67 in the Hague while the Binnenhof is being renovated. Name Although the body is officially called the "House of Representatives" in English, it is not a direct translation of its official Dutch name, the "Second Chamber of the States General", "Second Chamber" or more colloquially just the "Chamber". The ''Reformatorisch Dagblad'' (; " Reformed Daily") is a Dutch Protestant newspaper with a circulation of around 60,000, headquartered in Apeldoorn. The conservative newspaper was founded in 1971 and is associated with the Reformed Political Party. It is one of only a handful of daily national papers remaining in the Netherlands. Website ''Reformatorisch Dagblad'' has had a website since 1997. To honor the day of rest, pages on their website are not available on Sundays. It is closed on Sunday, exactly from midnight to midnight (according to the IP address location). A message is shown that the newspapers would like to see them come back on another day of the week. GroenLinks Politicians
GroenLinks (, ) is a green political party in the Netherlands. It was formed on 1 March 1989 from the merger of four left-wing parties: the Communist Party of the Netherlands, the Pacifist Socialist Party, the Political Party of Radicals and the Evangelical People's Party, which shared left-wing and progressive ideals and earlier co-operated in Regenboog-coalition for the 1989 European Parliament election. After disappointing results in the 1989 and 1994 general elections, the nascent party fared particularly well in the 1998 and 2002 elections. The party's leader at that time, Paul Rosenmöller, was seen as the unofficial Leader of the Opposition against the First Kok cabinet, a purple government. The party's number of seats fell from 10 to 4 seats in the 2012 election, before increasing to 14 in 2017 and falling to 8 in 2021. The party failed to enter the cabinet in 2017 and 2021-2022. Kauthar Bouchallikht
Kauthar Bouchallikht (born 16 May 1994) is a Dutch politician, climate activist and publicist. She served as a member of the House of Representatives between 2021 and 2023 on behalf of the green political party GroenLinks. Bouchallikht was the first member of parliament in Dutch parliamentary history to wear a hijab. She is also known for her activism in the climate movement. Early life and career Bouchallikht was born in Amsterdam in 1994 in a family of Moroccan descent and was also raised in that city. Starting in 2011, while in high school, she served on the board of LAKS, a Dutch interest group for students, and in that position helped organize a 2011 pupil strike against a mandatory minimum number of school hours. Open List
Open list describes any variant of party-list proportional representation where voters have at least some influence on the order in which a party's candidates are elected. This is as opposed to closed list, which allows only active members, party officials, or consultants to determine the order of its candidates and gives the general voter no influence at all on the position of the candidates placed on the party list. Additionally, an open list system allows voters to select individuals rather than parties. Different systems give the voter different amounts of influence to change the default ranking. List Of GroenLinks-PvdA Candidates In The 2023 Dutch General Election
For the 22 November 2023 Dutch general election, 26 electoral lists were successfully submitted, totalling 1,126 candidates. The 150 seats were awarded to party lists, with candidates over the preference threshold awarded a seat first if available and the other seats awarded based on position on the list. The preference threshold for this election was 17,388 votes (25% of the electoral threshold). One candidate would have not been elected based on position on the list, but received enough preference votes: Daniëlle Hirsch ( GroenLinks-PvdA). Replacements are also asked based on position on the list. '' Nederlandse Omroep Stichting'' published an analysis of the top 20 candidates for the 18 lists that (sometimes) received seats in polling. 61% of these candidates were male, 38% female and 1% non-binary. Yde Johan "Eddy" van Hijum (born 17 April 1972) is a Dutch politician who has served as the minister of social affairs and employment and third deputy prime minister in the Schoof cabinet since 2024. Political career Van Hijum studied civil engineering management at the University of Twente, and he served in the municipal council of Zwolle between 1998 and 2003. As a member of the Christian Democratic Appeal, he was a member of the House of Representatives from 2 September 2003 until 11 November 2014. He focused on matters of social security, income policy, dismissal law, labor participation policy and day care.
