Luc Ferland
Luc Ferland is a Canadian politician, who was a Parti Québécois member of the National Assembly of Quebec for the riding of Ungava from 2007 to 2014. Ferland attended the Université du Québec en Abitibi-Temiscamingue and obtained a degree in animation, and also studied at the Université du Québec à Chicoutimi in project management. He was the political aide of outgoing MNA Michel Létourneau. He was also the director of the CRD of Baie-James and a commissioner at the Baie James School Board. The Parti Québécois (; ; PQ) is a sovereignist and social democratic provincial political party in Quebec, Canada. The PQ advocates national sovereignty for Quebec involving independence of the province of Quebec from Canada and establishing a sovereign state. The PQ has also promoted the possibility of maintaining a loose political and economic sovereignty-association between Quebec and Canada. Diom Roméo Saganash (born October 28, 1961) is a Cree lawyer and former politician from Canada. Saganash served as the member of Parliament (MP) for Abitibi—Baie-James—Nunavik—Eeyou in Quebec from 2011 to 2019. A member of the New Democratic Party (NDP), he was first elected to the House of Commons in the 2011 federal election and was re-elected in the 2015 federal election. He did not run in 2019. 2007 Quebec General Election
The 2007 Quebec general election was held in the Canadian province of Quebec on March 26, 2007 to elect members of the 38th National Assembly of Quebec. The Quebec Liberal Party led by Premier Jean Charest managed to win a plurality of seats, but were reduced to a minority government, Quebec's first in 129 years, since the 1878 general election. The Action démocratique du Québec, in a major breakthrough, became the official opposition. The Parti Québécois was relegated to third-party status for the first time since the 1973 election. The Liberals won their lowest share of the popular vote since Confederation, and the PQ with their 28.35% of the votes cast won their lowest share since 1973 and their second lowest ever (ahead of only the 23.06% attained in their initial election campaign in 1970).
