Linear Tape-Open
Linearity is the property of a mathematical relationship (''function Function or functionality may refer to: Computing * Function key, a type of key on computer keyboards * Function model, a structured representation of processes in a system * Function object or functor or functionoid, a concept of object-oriente ...'') that can be graphically represented as a straight line. Linearity is closely related to ''Proportionality (mathematics), proportionality''. Examples in physics include rectilinear motion, the linear relationship of voltage and Electric current, current in an electrical conductor (Ohm's law), and the relationship of mass and weight. By contrast, more complicated relationships are ''nonlinear''. Generalized for functions in more than one dimension (mathematics), dimension, linearity means the property of a function of being compatible with addition and scale analysis (mathematics), scaling, also known as the superposition principle. The word linear comes fr ...

Link-time Optimization
Interprocedural optimization (IPO) is a collection of compiler techniques used in computer programming to improve performance in programs containing many frequently used functions of small or medium length. IPO differs from other compiler optimizations because it analyzes the entire program; other optimizations look at only a single function, or even a single block of code. IPO seeks to reduce or eliminate duplicate calculations, inefficient use of memory, and to simplify iterative sequences such as loops. If there is a call to another routine that occurs within a loop, IPO analysis may determine that it is best to inline that. Additionally, IPO may re-order the routines for better memory layout and locality. IPO may also include typical compiler optimizations on a whole-program level, for example dead code elimination (DCE), which removes code that is never executed. To accomplish this, the compiler tests for branches that are never taken and removes the code in that branch. IP ...

Low Temperature Oxide
Chemical vapor deposition (CVD) is a vacuum deposition method used to produce high quality, and high-performance, solid materials. The process is often used in the semiconductor industry to produce thin films. In typical CVD, the wafer (substrate) is exposed to one or more volatile precursors, which react and/or decompose on the substrate surface to produce the desired deposit. Frequently, volatile by-products are also produced, which are removed by gas flow through the reaction chamber. Microfabrication processes widely use CVD to deposit materials in various forms, including: monocrystalline, polycrystalline, amorphous, and epitaxial. These materials include: silicon (dioxide, carbide, nitride, oxynitride), carbon (fiber, nanofibers, nanotubes, diamond and graphene), fluorocarbons, filaments, tungsten, titanium nitride and various high-κ dielectrics. The term ''chemical vapour deposition'' was coined 1960 by ''John M. Blocher, Jr.'' who intended to differentiate ''chemical ...

Lunar Transfer Orbit
A trans-lunar injection (TLI) is a propulsive maneuver used to set a spacecraft on a trajectory that will cause it to arrive at the Moon. History The first space probe to attempt TLI was the Soviet Union's Luna 1 on January 2, 1959 which was designed to impact the Moon. The burn however didn't go exactly as planned and the spacecraft missed the Moon by more than three times its radius and was sent into a heliocentric orbit. Luna 2 performed the same maneuver more accurately on September 12, 1959 and crashed into the Moon two days later. The Soviets repeated this success with 22 more Luna missions and 5 Zond missions travelling to the Moon between 1959 and 1976. The United States launched its first lunar impactor attempt, Ranger 3, on January 26, 1962, which failed to reach the Moon. This was followed by the first US success, Ranger 4, on April 23, 1962. Another 27 US missions to the Moon were launched from 1962 to 1973, including five successful Surveyor soft landers, five ...

Lithium Titanate
Lithium titanates are chemical compounds of lithium, titanium and oxygen. They are mixed oxides and belong to the titanates. The most important lithium titanates are: * lithium titanate spinel, Li4Ti5O12 and the related compounds up to Li7Ti5O12. These titanates are used in lithium-titanate batteries. * lithium metatitanate, a compound with the chemical formula Li2TiO3 and a melting point of It is a white powder with possible applications in tritium breeding materials in nuclear fusion applications. Other lithium titanates, i.e. mixed oxides of the system Li2O–TiO2, are: * Lithium orthotitanate Li4TiO4, melting point of * Ramsdellite lithium titanate Li2Ti3O7 and Li''x''TiO2 (0 ≦ ''x'' ≦ 0.57) with ramsdellite structure. = Lithium metatitanate = Lithium metatitanate is a compound with the chemical formula Li2TiO3. Lithium-titanate Battery
The lithium-titanate or lithium-titanium-oxide (LTO) battery is a type of rechargeable battery which has the advantage of being faster to charge than other lithium-ion batteries but the disadvantage of having a much lower energy density. Uses Titanate batteries are used in certain Japanese-only versions of Mitsubishi's i-MiEV electric vehicle as well as Honda's EV-neo electric bike and Fit EV. They are also used in the Tosa concept electric bus. Because of the battery's high level of safety and recharge capabilities, LTO batteries are used in car audio applications as well as mobile medical devices. An LTO battery is also used in the S-Pen that comes with the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G. According to a Weatherflow Co. article, the Tempest weather-station device contains a 1300mAh LTO battery, charged via four solar panels, requiring "at least 4 hours of adequate sunlight every two weeks." Chemistry A lithium-titanate battery is a modified lithium-ion battery that uses ...

Land Transportation Office (Philippines)
The Land Transportation Office ( fil, Tanggapan ng Transportasyong-Lupa; LTO) is an agency of the Philippine government under the Department of Transportation responsible for all land transportation in the Philippines. Functions of the LTO include the inspection and registration of motor vehicles, issuance of licenses and permits, enforcement of land transportation rules and regulations, and adjudication of traffic cases. Its primary mission is to rationalize land transportation services and facilities, and effectively implement various transportation laws, rules, and regulations. It believes that it is the responsibility of those involved in the public service to be more vigilant in their part in the over-all development scheme of national leadership. Hence, the promotion of safety and comfort in land travel is one of LTO's continuing commitments. It aims to be a frontline government agency that showcases fast and efficient public service for a progressive land transport secto ...

Light Tight Oil
Tight oil (also known as shale oil, shale-hosted oil or light tight oil, abbreviated LTO) is light crude oil contained in unconventional petroleum-bearing formations of low permeability, often shale or tight sandstone. Economic production from tight oil formations requires the same hydraulic fracturing and often uses the same horizontal well technology used in the production of shale gas. While sometimes called "shale oil", tight oil should not be confused with oil shale (shale rich in kerogen) or shale oil (oil produced from oil shales). Therefore, the International Energy Agency recommends using the term "light tight oil" for oil produced from shales or other very low permeability formations, while the World Energy Resources 2013 report by the World Energy Council uses the terms "tight oil" and "shale-hosted oil". In May 2013 the International Energy Agency in its ''Medium-Term Oil Market Report'' (MTOMR) said that the North American oil production surge led by unconventio ...
