Lozen Mountain
Lozen Mountain ( bg, Лозенска планина, ''Lozenska planina'') is a small mountain in Bulgaria. It is at the westernmost end of the Sredna Gora range. To the west, it is separated by the Pancharevo Gorge from the Vitosha and Plana mountains. To the north, its foothills descend into the Sofia Valley. Sredna Gora ( bg, Средна гора ) is a mountain range in central Bulgaria, situated south of and parallel to the Balkan Mountains and extending from the Iskar to the west and the elbow of Tundzha north of Yambol to the east. Sredna Gora is 285 km long, reaching 50 km at its greatest width. Its highest peak is Golyam Bogdan at . Pancharevo Gorge
Pancharevo Gorge (Pancharevo saddle) is a deep and narrow gorge in the upper stream of the Iskar River in western Bulgaria. It is sandwiched between the mountains of Vitosha and Plana to the southwest and the Lozen Mountain to the northeast. The gorge forms the boundary between Samokov and Sofia valleys. Its average altitude is 700 m. The villages of Pancharevo, Kokalyane and Dolni Pasarel also located in the gorge. Vitosha
Vitosha ( bg, Витоша ), the ancient ''Scomius'' or ''Scombrus'', is a mountain massif, on the outskirts of Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. Vitosha is one of the symbols of Sofia and the closest site for hiking, alpinism and skiing. Convenient bus lines and rope ways render the mountain easily accessible. Vitosha has the outlines of an enormous dome. The territory of the mountain includes Vitosha nature park that encompasses the best known and most frequently visited parts. The foothills of Vitosha shelter resort quarters of Sofia; Knyazhevo quarter has mineral springs. Vitosha is the oldest nature park in the Balkans. Plana (mountain)
Plana ( bg, Плана) is a mountain in western Bulgaria, bounded by Sofia Valley to the north, Iskar River to the east, Samokov Valley to the south and southwest, and Vitosha Mountain to the northwest. The summit Manastirishte rises to 1338m. Plana hosts Peyuva Buka Chalet, the mountain refuges of Ray (‘Paradise’) and Savo, and the Kokalyane Monastery founded by Tsar Samuil of Bulgaria. Sofia Valley
The Sofia Valley ( bg, Софийска котловина, Sofiyska kotlovina), or Sofia Field ( bg, Софийско поле, Sofiysko pole, link=no), is a valley in central western Bulgaria bordering Stara Planina to the northeast, the Viskyar, Lyulin, Vitosha and Lozen mountains to the southwest, the Vakarel Mountain to the southeast and the low Slivnitsa Heights to the northwest. After the valley's bottom was formed, the stream of the Iskar River was blocked and the whole valley became a lake, causing the gritty and clay-like soils that now cover most of the valley. Mountains constitute a significant part of Bulgaria and are dominant in the southwest and central parts.
