Logar Province
Logar (Pashto/Dari: ; meaning Greater Mountain ( لوې غر)) is one of the 34 provinces of Afghanistan located in the eastern section of the country. It is divided into 7 districts and contains hundreds of villages. Puli Alam is the capital of the province. As of 2021, Logar has a population of approximately 442,037. It is a multi-ethnic tribal society, while about 65% of its residents are made up by Pashtuns whereas the remainder are Tajiks and Hazaras. The Logar River enters the province through the west and leaves to the north. History Pre Islamic era A 2,600-year-old a Zoroastrian fire temple was found at Mes Aynak (about 25 miles or 40 kilometers southeast of Kabul). Logar River
The Logar River (also Lowgar) is a river of Afghanistan. It gives the name to the Logar Valley and Logar Province. In Maidan Wardak Province where the river originates, it is called Chak River. The Chaki Wardak Dam is built on the river in Chaki Wardak District, Maidan Wardak Province. The Logar River drains a wide tract of country, rising in Maidan Wardak Province in the southern slopes of the Sanglakh Range and receiving tributaries from hills in the Kharwar District, north-east of Ghazni. Logar Valley (Slovenia)
The Logar Valley ( sl, Logarska dolina, ''Logarjeva dolina''Mišič, Franc. 1938. "O ledinskih in hišnih imenih okoli Solčave." ''Časopis za zgodovino in narodopisje'' 33(3/4): 191–201, p. 197.) is a valley in the Kamnik Alps, in the Municipality of Solčava, Slovenia. The Slovene name for the valley is of relatively recent coinage and is derived from the Logar Farm, which in turn is derived from ''log'' (literally, 'swampy meadow'). In 1987, the valley received protected status as a landscape park encompassing . Geography The Logar Valley is a typical U-shaped glacial valley. It is divided into three parts. The lower part is named ''Log'', the middle part ''Plest'' or ''Plestje'' (it is a mostly wooded area), and the upper part ''Kot'' (literally 'cirque') or ''Ogradec'' (it is a wooded area with scree slopes). Mihovil Logar ( sr-cyr, Миховил Логар; Rijeka, Croatia, 6 October 1902 – Belgrade, Serbia, 13 January 1998) was a composer and music writer. Born in Rijeka, he spent most of his life in Belgrade. He left behind over two hundred works across all genres – operas, ballets, symphonic music, concertos, cantatas, piano music, and songs. Once a prominent student of the so-called “Prague generation” of composers from Serbia, Logar is considered one of the most significant among those who actively contributed to the development of music professionalism in the country.
