Lower Murray Zone (wine)
Lower Murray zone is a wine zone located in the state of South Australia which covers the portion of the state south of a line of latitude approximately in line with Crystal Brook, east of a line of longitude approximately in line with Truro and north of a line of latitude approximately in line with Cape Willoughby at the east end of Kangaroo Island. The zone is bounded by the following wine zones: Far North to its north, the Mount Lofty Ranges, Barossa and Fleurieu (from north to south) to its west and the Limestone Coast to its south. The term ‘Lower Murray’ was registered as an Australian Geographical Indication under the ''Wine Australia Corporation Act 1980'' on 7 December 1996. As of 1998, the zone only contains one region - the Riverland. A growing region is an area suited by climate and soil conditions to the cultivation of a certain type of crop or plant group. Crystal Brook, South Australia
Crystal Brook is a town in the Mid North of South Australia, 197 kilometres north of the capital, Adelaide. In 2016, the population of the town/postcode was 1,935. Crystal Brook is in a very picturesque location, being at the start of the Flinders Ranges. The town has multiple viewing points and parks. It was named after the spring-fed creek next to which it was founded. Crystal Brook is the second largest town after the city of Port Pirie in the Southern Flinders Ranges area. The shady peppercorn trees grace the main street, Bowman Street. The area where the present town is now was founded in 1839 by Edward John Eyre who was passing through the region. Truro (postcode 5356, altitude 311m) is a town in South Australia, 80 km northeast of Adelaide. Cape Willoughby is a headland in the Australian state of South Australia located on the east end of the Dudley Peninsula on Kangaroo Island in the gazetted locality of Willoughby about south east of the town of Penneshaw. The cape is described as being ‘the Eastern extremity of Kangaroo Island, is a bold, rocky headland, high.’ It was named after a village in Lincolnshire by the British navigator, Matthew Flinders, on 7 April 1802.
