Lower Clarence Magpies
The Lower Clarence Magpies are an Australian rugby league football club based in Yamba, New South Wales. The club was founded as Maclean in 1915, later becoming Lower River. They rebranded again as Lower Clarence when they joined the newly formed Group 1 competition in 1966. History The club was founded in Maclean in 1915. They competed in the various Clarence River, Upper Clarence and Group 2 competitions of the time, playing home games at Jubilee Park in Maclean. Under the first past the post system in 1951, they finished as runners-up, finishing a single point behind Grafton All Blacks despite having won both their matches that season. With the finals system re-introduced in 1952, they finished the regular season as minor premiers. They defeated All Blacks in the major semi, but lost to South Grafton in the final. Luke Douglas
Luke Archibald Douglas (born 12 May 1986) is a Scotland international former rugby league footballer who played as a . Douglas played for the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks and the Gold Coast Titans in the NRL from 2006 to 2016. He also played for St Helens in the Super League in 2017 and 2018, and on loan from the St. Helens at the Leigh Centurions in the 2019 Betfred Championship, after which he retired from the sport. Northern Rivers Regional Rugby League
The Northern Rivers Regional Rugby League (NRRRL) is a rugby league competition run in the far north of New South Wales, Australia. It is run under the auspices of the Country Rugby League. The league formed in 2005 as an extended Group 1 Rugby League competition, featuring teams from Group 18 Rugby League. Prior to this, teams from Group 18 played in a competition with teams from the Gold Coast region of Queensland. Both Group 1 and Group 18 continue to run junior competitions. The competitions run by NRRRL include: First grade, Reserve grade, Under-18's and Ladies League Tag. Yamba, New South Wales
Yamba is a town in northern New South Wales, Australia at the mouth of the Clarence River. The first European to visit the area was Matthew Flinders, who stopped in Yamba Bay for six days in July 1799. Group 1 Rugby League
Group 1 Rugby League was a rugby league competition held in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales, Australia, run under the auspices of the Country Rugby League. The group, however, still runs a junior rugby league competition. When the Group 18-Gold Coast competition dissolved in 2005, the New South Wales sides joined together with Group 1 to form a divisional league, Northern Rivers Regional Rugby League (NRRRL). Group 18 also still holds its own individual junior rugby league competition. The Sydney Roosters are an Australian professional Rugby league, Rugby League Football Club based in the Eastern Suburbs (Sydney) and parts of inner Sydney. Brian Smith (rugby League, Born 1954)
Brian Smith (born 14 March 1954) is an Australian rugby league coach and former player. He was also the Football Manager for the New Zealand Warriors. Life and career Career Smith played for St. George 1973-74 and South Sydney Rabbitohs (1975-1976 and 1979), appearing in a total of 31 first grade games. However, Smith is best known as a coach, having been at the helm of Illawarra Steelers, where he took over for the 1984 season, before moving to Hull FC, St. George Dragons, Bradford Bulls, Parramatta Eels, the Newcastle Knights and, most recently, at the Sydney Roosters and the NSW Country side. Nathan Brown (born 31 July 1973) is an Australian professional rugby league football coach who was the Head Coach of the New Zealand Warriors in the NRL and former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1990s and 2000s. He played as a for the St. George Dragons and St. George Illawarra Dragons in the National Rugby League, also coaching the latter. Tony Priddle
Tony Priddle is an Australian former rugby league footballer who played in the 1990s. Playing career Priddle came to the St. George Dragons from Maclean, New South Wales in 1990. He played six seasons at St. George between 1990-1995 as a Prop forward. He played in two grand finals for St. George Dragons in 1992 and 1993. Priddle retired after completing the 1995 season. After leaving St. George at the end of the 1995 ARL season, Priddle signed with the rival Super League competition during the Super League war. Daniel Wagon (born 30 April 1976) is an Australian professional rugby league coach who is the head coach of the Limoux Grizzlies in the Elite One Championship. He is a former professional rugby league footballer who played for the Aston DSC Bulls in the AMNRL. He primarily played in the back row.
