Mayfield, Lower Boro
Mayfield is a heritage-listed homestead complex at Mayfield Road, Lower Boro, Queanbeyan-Palerang Region, New South Wales, Australia. It was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 18 November 1999. History Verbal advice states that the property was originally owned by Harry Jenner and Sons of Mayfield Tarago Pty Ltd. The present tenant advised that the original homestead was built in the 1860s and burnt down in 1932. The homestead dates from 1927. The original shearing shed, slab stables and slab dairy date from 1860s. Various other outbuildings date from 1920s. Archaeological remains at the site date as far back as the 1820s. Mayfield was acquired by the Metropolitan Water Sewerage and Drainage Board 1985 for the ill-fated Welcome Reef Dam project. Nerriga is a small village in the Southern Tablelands of New South Wales, Australia in Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council. Argyle County
Argyle County was one of the original Nineteen Counties in New South Wales and is now one of the 141 Cadastral divisions of New South Wales. It includes the area around Goulburn. It is bounded by Lake George in the south-west, the Shoalhaven River in the east, and the Wollondilly River in the north-east. Argyle County was named by Governor Macquarie after his native county in Scotland. He named it while inspecting the area in 1820. In 1829 the Act for Instituting and regulating Courts of General and Quarter Sessions in New South Wales established courts in the county at Cookbundoon, Goulburn Plains and Inverary. Mayfield is a north-western suburb of Newcastle, New South Wales, which takes its name from Ada May (born 1874) a daughter of the landowner there, John Scholey. Its boundaries are the Hunter River to the north, the Main Northern railway line to the south ( Waratah station), the railway line to Newcastle Harbour to the east, and open ground to the west.
