Lovísa Henningsdóttir
Lovísa Björt Henningsdóttir (born 11 October 1995) is an Icelandic basketball player for Haukar of the Úrvalsdeild kvenna. She played college basketball for Marist of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference from 2014 to 2019. In 2019, she debuted with the Icelandic national team. Playing career Early career Lovísa came up through the junior programs of Haukar and played her first senior game with the team in the top-tier Úrvalsdeild kvenna in 2009. She spent the 2011-2012 season in the Efterskolen Ved Nyborg basketball academy in Denmark. After her return, Lovísa appeared in 15 games during the 2012-2013 season, averaging 3.0 points. In 2013-2014, she appeared in a career high 33 games, averaging 5.6 points and 3.2 rebounds per game. On 22 February 2014, she won the Icelandic Cup after Haukar defeated Snæfell in the Cup finals. Úrvalsdeild kvenna (English: Women's Premier League), known as Bónus deild kvenna for sponsorship reasons, is the highest basketball competition among women's clubs in Iceland. It is administered by the Körfuknattleikssamband Íslands, Icelandic Basketball Federation. It was founded in 1952 and, until 2007, it was known as 1. deild kvenna (English: Women's First division). Fjölnir ( ) is a legendary king in Norse mythology said to have been the son of Freyr (Frey) and his consort Gerðr (Gertha). The name appears in a variety of forms, including Fiolnir, Fjölner, Fjolner, and Fjolne. He was claimed as the progenitor of the Swedish Yngling dynasty, reigning from Gamla Uppsala. According to the ''Grottasöngr'', Fjölnir lived from the 1st century BC to the early 1st century AD. Hilmar Smári Henningsson (born 3 September 2000) is an Icelandic basketball player for the Stjarnan of the Icelandic Úrvalsdeild karla and the Icelandic national basketball team. In 2019, he was named the Úrvalsdeild Young Player of the Year and in 2022, he won the Icelandic Cup with Stjarnan. Club career Hilmar Smári started his senior team career with Haukar, appearing in 7 games during the 2016–17 Úrvalsdeild karla season. After starting the following season with Haukar, he moved to Þór Akureyri in December 2017. In 12 games with Þór, he averaged 12.2 points and 4.0 rebounds. The Iceland men's national basketball team () represents Iceland in international basketball tournaments. The team is controlled by the Icelandic Basketball Association. Iceland has qualified for the EuroBasket three times in their history, with the national team making their first appearance in 2015. The 2022–23 Úrvalsdeild kvenna was the 66th season of the Úrvalsdeild kvenna (basketball), Úrvalsdeild kvenna, the top tier women's basketball league on Iceland.
