Lovro Gnjidić
Lovro Gnjidić (born April 18, 2001) is a Croatian professional basketball player currently playing for Zunder Palencia in the Spanish second-tier Primera FEB. Standing at 1.98 m, he plays at the point guard position. Professional career Gnjidić grew up in the youth system of Cibona, where he also started his professional career. In the 2020–21 season, after the first choice point guard Scottie Reynolds was sidelined due to injury, Gnjidić unexpectedly got much more time on court. His good plays attracted the attention of the Montenegrin Mornar Bar, which tried to sign him during the Summer of 2021. After a lot of rumour and press reports of his transfer, he eventually decided to stay in Cibona. In April 2022, Gnjidić declared for the 2022 NBA draft. Later, he withdrawn his name from consideration for the 2022 NBA draft. The point guard (PG), also called the one or the point, is one of the Basketball positions, five positions in a regulation basketball game. A point guard has perhaps the most specialized role of any position and is usually the shortest player on the court. Point guards are expected to control the pace of the game. They effectively "run" the team's offense by controlling the ball and making sure that it gets to the right player at the right time. The 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup qualification for the FIBA Europe region, began in February 2020 and concluded in February 2023. The process determined the twelve teams that would qualify for the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup. On 9 December 2019, the World Anti-Doping Agency initially handed Russia a four-year ban from all major sporting events, after Russian Anti-Doping Agency, RUSADA was found non-compliant for handing over manipulating lab data and lying to investigators. Croatian National Basketball Team
The Croatia men's national basketball team () represents Croatia in international basketball matches. The team is controlled by the Croatian Basketball Federation (HKS). The biggest success Croatia has achieved was at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics when the team reached the final against the United States and won the silver medal. Croatia has also won one bronze medal at the FIBA World Cup and two bronze medals at EuroBasket. The ABA League, renamed the ABA League First Division in 2017, is the top-tier regional men's professional basketball league that originally featured clubs from former Yugoslavia (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia and Slovenia). The Basketball League of Serbia (), commonly abbreviated as KLS, is a top-tier men's professional basketball league in Serbia. Founded in 2006. It is currently not run by the Basketball Federation of Serbia (KSS).
