Love Piece
''Love Piece'' is Ai Otsuka's fourth album. It was released in two formats: CD Only and CD + DVD. The first press of the CD+DVD version includes a special music video of the song U-Boat from Otsuka's LOVE COOK album, while the first press of the CD Only version includes a 40-page original photo-book. The first press of both versions also includes a box three times the size of a regular CD, with a coloured case in one of six colours (blue, green, black, yellow, purple or pink). Five singles were released before the album: "Frienger", "Yumekui", "Renai Shashin", Chu-Lip", and double A-Side "Peach / Heart". Ai Otsuka
is a Japanese singer-songwriter from Suminoe-ku, Osaka, Japan. She is a popular artist on the Avex Trax label and is best known for her 2003 hit "Sakuranbo", which stayed in the Top 200 Oricon Weekly Singles Chart for 103 weeks. A piano player since age four, Otsuka composes and co-produces her own songs, as well as writes her own lyrics. Her music ranges from upbeat pop/rock music to ballads. Every year, Otsuka also has her own ''Love is Born'' tour to mark the anniversary of being in the music industry and her birthday in September. All of the ''Love is Born'' concerts take place in Japan, ending in her hometown of Osaka. On ''Love is Born 5th Anniversary'' in 2008, Otsuka held a leg of the concert in Taiwan, where she performed a Chinese version of her song "Planetarium". "Peach/Heart" is Ai Otsuka's 15th (16th overall) single released under the avex trax label. It was released on 25 July 2007 and was her second (third) single to be released in 2007. The first A-side, ''Peach'' is an upbeat song said to "give the feeling of the refreshing summer sky" and is the theme song of the new summer 2007 drama, Hanazakari no Kimitachi e, starring Maki Horikita, Shun Oguri, and Ikuta Toma. In contrast, the second A-side, ''Heart'' is a medium-tempo track which has a "nostalgic feeling". Shunji Iwai
is a Japanese film director, video artist, writer and documentary maker. Life and career Iwai was born in Sendai, Miyagi, Japan. He attended Yokohama National University, graduating in 1987. In 1988 he started out in the Japanese entertainment industry by directing TV dramas and music videos. Then, in 1993, his TV drama, ''Fireworks'', brought him critical praise and the Directors Guild of Japan New Directors Award for his portrayal of a group of children in the town of Iioka. In 1995 he went on to start his career in feature films, starting with the box-office hit ''Love Letter'', in which he cast pop singer Miho Nakayama in dual roles. Love Cook
''Love Cook'' is Ai Otsuka's third album released on 14 December 2005 under the Avex Trax record label. It was released in four formats: CD only, CD+DVD, CD+Photobook and CD+Picture Book. The latter two are limited to 150,000 copies each, and feature different sleeve case covers. The picture book illustrations are hand-drawn by Ai herself. Three singles were released before the album: double A-Sided " Smily / Biidama", " Neko ni Fūsen" and " Planetarium". "Smily / Biidama" and "Planetarium" were the first two Ai Otsuka singles to reach the #1 spot in Oricon Weekly Singles Chart, and, having sold more than 300,000 copies each, are among her best-selling singles. Chu-Lip
"Chu-Lip" is Ai Otsuka's 14th single under the avex trax label. It is also her first single released in 2007. "Chu-Lip", marks the first time that Otsuka has released more than 3 singles before the release of an album. "Chu-Lip" is a play on the Japanese word for tulip, combining the sound of a kiss ("chu") with the English word "lip." The title track of the single is used as the theme song for the TBS drama ''Kirakira Kenshuii'', starring Manami Konishi and Eiji Wentz from WaT. The b-side of the single is "Kimi ni Kaeru.", which is a med-tempo song. The term ''kaeru'' can mean "returning" or "frog," thus the title can also be translated into "Giving You a Frog.". Renai Shashin
is the 13th single by Japanese singer Ai Otsuka, released on the Avex Trax label. It is also her third and final single released in 2006. The ballad was used as the theme song of the movie ''Tada, Kimi o Aishiteru''. The title of the movie was originally ''Heavenly Forest'', but was changed to a phrase from the song's lyrics after the director listened to the song. The b-side, "Hanikami Jane", an upbeat song, was used in a television commercial for Look: a la mode chocolate. The third track is a live version of "Haneari Tamago", a song originally on Otsuka's 3rd album ''Love Cook''. The single debuted at number 2 during its first week, selling 77,570 copies and making it Otsuka's highest debut sales of the year.
