Love In The 1980s
''Love in the 1980s'' () is a 2015 Chinese period romance film directed by Huo Jianqi and based on a novel by Ye Fu. It was released on September 11, 2015. Cast *Yang Caiyu as Cheng Liwen *Lu Fangsheng as Guan Yubo *Li Shutong as Xiang Yu'e Plot Yubo (Lu Fangsheng) has just graduated from university and been assigned to work in a small village in his home province. Here he meets Liwen (Yang Caiyu), who was his high school classmate (and desk mate), and with whom he was in love. He spends the next six months pursuing her, yet despite the obvious attraction and chemistry between them, she rejects his love (again) out of fear that she will hold him back in his career. Huo Jianqi
Huo Jianqi (; born January 20, 1958) is a Chinese film director. Like the cinematographer turned director Gu Changwei, Huo Jianqi began his cinematic career in the art department. Nearly all of Huo's films have been written by his wife and collaborator, Qiu Shi, who works under the name "Si Wu." Unlike many of his contemporaries (and predecessors), Huo rarely has had issues with the Chinese government regarding his films, leading some western critics to label him the "darling director of China's film bureaucracy." Career Huo attended the Beijing Film Academy in the early 1980s as part of the "Fifth Generation" (which also included directors like Zhang Yimou and Chen Kaige). After graduation, he worked as an art director, including on films such as Tian Zhuangzhuang's ''The Horse Thief'' (1986). Yang Caiyu (; born 28 September 1992) is a Chinese actress and singer. She made her acting debut in the short film ''Boy's Dairy'' (2012), and has since gone on to appear in numerous film titles such as '' Love in the 1980s'' (2015), '' Youth'' (2017) and ''Don't Forget Your Original Heart'' (2018).
