Love Club
Love Club was a San Francisco-based American goth band of the 1980s and 1990s, founded and fronted by vocalist and pianist Deborah Borchers, with guitarist Lawrence (Larry) Doyle. They were one of the few bands signed by Sandy Pearlman to his Popular Metaphysics label. Under that label's co-branding contract with MCA Records, Love Club released one nine-song album, "Lime Twigs and Treachery", in 1990. History Borchers started singing at seven years old and started Love Club with Larry Doyle in the 1980s. Their style of music is a goth-influenced alternative trance funk. One of the earliest lineups of the band 87-89 included Larry Doyle, Deborah Borchers, Jeff St. Pierre and John Scampoli, the musicians involved in recording "Lime Twigs and Treachery". While the album did not enjoy much commercial success, Paul Nash of Trouser Press Magazine called Borchers a "skilled diva" and compared her vocals with those of Danielle Dax and Nina Hagen. Goth Rock
Gothic rock (also called goth rock or simply goth) is a style of rock music that emerged from post-punk in the United Kingdom in the late 1970s. The first post-punk bands which shifted toward dark music with gothic overtones include Siouxsie and the Banshees, Joy Division, Bauhaus, and the Cure. The genre itself was defined as a separate movement from post-punk. Gothic rock stood out due to its darker sound, with the use of primarily minor or bass chords, reverb, dark arrangements, or dramatic and melancholic melodies, having inspirations in gothic literature allied with themes such as sadness, nihilism, dark romanticism, tragedy, melancholy and morbidity. These themes are often approached poetically. The sensibilities of the genre led the lyrics to represent the evil of the century and the romantic idealization of death and the supernatural imagination. Greg Reed (born June 5, 1965) is an American politician. He serves as a Republican member of the Alabama Senate, representing the 5th District since 2010. David Balakrishnan (born 1954, Los Angeles, California) is the founder of the Turtle Island Quartet. MCA Records was an American record label owned by MCA Inc., which later became part of Universal Music Group. Pre-history MCA Inc., a powerful talent agency and a television production company, entered the recorded music business in 1962 with the purchase of the New York-based US Decca Records (established in 1934), including Coral Records and Brunswick Records.
