Love Child (Ella Riot EP)
__NOTOC__ ''Love Child'' is the second studio release by Ann Arbor, Michigan-based band Ella Riot, formerly My Dear Disco. Being a studio recording and final release, ''Love Child'' is the band's second definitive work. It was engineered and recorded at Mission Sound studio. The band released a music video of the album's fourth track "It Could Be". The song's theme is "liberation" and according to band founder Tyler Duncan the video's concept is: "an unlikely person having the ideal response to our music." An album review by Mark Deming of AllMusic characterized the music as pop, influenced by funk, techno and house, and called the band's approach original. The last track "Clubbin" has bagpipes as the lead instrument, with Deming calling the fusion of bagpipes and guitars "a welcome bit of inspired lunacy". Ella Riot
Ella Riot was a musical group based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Founded in 2007 by Tyler Duncan as My Dear Disco, the name change came in March 2011. The band first released the eponymous EP ''My Dear Disco'' in 2007, releasing its first album '' Dancethink LP'' in January 2009. The album fused electro-pop, funk, rock, and techno into a distinctive sound the band members have dubbed "DanceThink". The band released two more EPs in 2010 and their last EP '' Love Child'' in March 2011, before going into an "indefinite hiatus" in October 2011. In 2013, band vocalist Michelle Chamuel took part in the fourth season of ''The Voice'' and finished in second place. Synthpop

Funk
Funk is a music genre that originated in African American communities in the mid-1960s when musicians created a rhythmic, danceable new form of music through a mixture of various music genres that were popular among African Americans in the mid-20th century. It de-emphasizes melody and chord progressions and focuses on a strong rhythmic groove of a bassline played by an electric bassist and a drum part played by a percussionist, often at slower tempos than other popular music. Though a live performing band, electronic music production was part of their forte since their inception. Michelle Chamuel
Michelle Jacqueline Chamuel (born 1986) is an American singer, songwriter and music producer. She has released several works as a solo artist and in partnership with others. She was the lead singer of the band Ella Riot and the runner-up on season four of ''The Voice''. Influenced by Imogen Heap and Max Martin, she is also known by her producer moniker The Reverb Junkie. Her most recent album titled ''Couldn't Stay'' was released in 2020. Early life Chamuel was born in Wellesley, Massachusetts, to Joalie Davie and Jacques Chamuel. Earlier known in English as "union pipes", their current name is a partial translation of the Irish language terms (literally, "pipes of the elbow"), from their method of inflation.
