Love And Learn (1947 Film)
''Love and Learn'' is a 1947 American comedy film directed by Frederick de Cordova and written by Eugene Conrad, I. A. L. Diamond and Francis Swann (from a story by Harry Sauber). The film stars Jack Carson, Robert Hutton, Martha Vickers, Janis Paige, and Otto Kruger. The film was released by Warner Bros. on May 2, 1947. Plot Frustrated because they cannot get their songs published, Jingles Collins and Bob Grant decide to leave New York City and return home. On one last night out on the town, joined by Jingles' sweetheart Jackie, they encounter Barbara Wyngate, mistaking her for a dance hostess when she is actually a wealthy young heiress. Martha Vickers
Martha Vickers (born Martha MacVicar; May 28, 1925 – November 2, 1971) was an American model and actress. Early life Vickers was born Martha MacVicar in Ann Arbor, Michigan; her father was an automobile dealer. She began her career as a model and cover girl. Her family moved to Hollywood when her father assumed control of an agency in Burbank, California. Vickers was 15 at that time. Film Vickers' first film role was a small uncredited part in ''Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man'' (1943). She played minor roles in several films during the early 1940s, working first at Universal Studios and then at RKO Pictures. Florence Bates ( Rabe; April 15, 1888 - January 31, 1954), was an American film and stage character actress who often played grande dame characters in supporting roles. Life and career Bates was the second child born to Jewish immigrant parents, in San Antonio, Texas, where her father was the owner of an antique store. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in mathematics, after which she taught school. In 1909, she met and married her first husband, Joseph Ramer, and gave up her career to raise their daughter. Lou Nova (March 16, 1913 – September 29, 1991) also called ''Cosmic punch'' was an American boxer and actor. Born in Los Angeles, California, the Nova was the U.S. and World Amateur Boxing Champion in 1935. After turning pro, he remained undefeated in his first 22 matches, and won 40 fights in total. He was the first top rated boxer to practice yoga, and reportedly did headstands in the dressing room before his title bout with Joe Louis. Boxing career In 1938, Nova gained an upset win over Britain's Tommy Farr in a 15-round decision. Nova had Farr near a knockout in the 14th round when Referee Eddie Josephs started counting as he lay in the ropes. However, Farr resumed the fight after the count reached two.
